    bleeding daily

I have an open vented central heating system with 3 radiators downstairs and 4 upstairs. 6 don't give me any trouble what-so-ever, however the one in my sons bedroom does. If I don't bleed it it gets about 1/4 full of air in a week. If I bleed it daily, I get air out every time. I can...

I am looking for a new CH programmer to replace the existing one. There are a couple of things I dont quite understand. 1) whats the difference between a common timebase and an independent timebase? (Danfoss CP715 vs FP715) 2) Does the gravity / pumped selector simply mean can the heating...

    hot water header tank sizing

my shower is electric and fed from mains water. £70 seems a lot for a tank, or is this the going rate? How much extra wood do I need up there to support the tank when full?

    hot water header tank sizing

Screwfix sell a 50 gallon tank http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?cId=101561&ts=69138&id=10134 It is the largest they sell. Does it *really* have to be this big? What support does a tank this size require. I'm guessing that I cannot just sit it on the joists!!

    hot water header tank sizing

There is a header tank for the central heating in the loft already which I plan to leave. All cold water in the house is mains fed and again I plan to leave it that way. This new planned tank will feed the hot water to the bath, basin and kitchen sink only. Will the 7 gallon tank suffice?

    hot water header tank sizing

I have a galvanised hot water header tank in my airing cupboard in my 1950s house. I think its about time to change the tank before it rusts through and fails in a spectacular way!! I plan to install a new tank in the loft directly about the airing cupboard and simply extend the pipes down...

    demolishing a shed

I have a shed which we share with our neighbours. We have both decided that the shed has to go due to the fairly serious structural problems with it. Its build from brick and has a solid concrete roof. I think the foundations were poor, hence the walls are spreading. As its going, I...

    condenser or vented?

I am looking to purchase a tumble dryer. It will be located in the kitchen with an external wall directly behind. Creating a hole for a vented machine wont be too much of a problem. I was after opinions as to which to buy. I know that a condenser machine used more electricity per cycle...

Thanks for the replies. The flexible tap hose is about 30cm long and probable 13mm bore. From what you are saying you seem to agree that my flow rate is low. What should I be aiming for? Thanks

    Bath hot water flow rate

Hi, As part of our bathroom refurb, I replaced the bath last weekend. Since then I have been unsure if I have have restricted the flow rate of hot water into the bath. The hot tap is plumbed in 22mm from the tank to the bathroom, then a flexible tap tail to the tap. According to my trusty...
