SimonH2, to answer your question, the electrical work was done before the building work was complete and a final visit from a BCO. However, we have not received any 'completion' certificates for the entire conversion as the LABC are firstly wanting the electrical certificate.

I take it you mean by placing the lead ontop of the hip/ridge shingles? If that is what you mean, I would rather keep any flashing hidden away if feasible.

Thanks for the heads up, I take it that the cedar would react with the lead otherwise? Should I stick the lead down with the wet bitumen? Or let the bitumen dry on the lead before laying the lead onto the ridge? I will obviously be hammering nails through the lead to fix the hip tiles...

The hips will not be mitred as I'm not using any underlay of flashing underneath the shingles. The hips will have cedar ridge shingles (basically two shingles stapled together at an angle) along them.
