cable size calculation of allumunium cable

Ali and copper cables can be joined without a problem as long as the joint is covered with a compound with prevents any electrolytic corrosion, ali cables will burn back during a fault, I repaired a 300mm SWA a few months ago it had been damaged during excavition work and re-buried almost 4 feet...

    15V on Earth circuit!!

I recon your house has its own earth electrode/stake and no earth from the suppliers, check that the stake is connected. the only other thing is the italians might not reference there supplies so then there will be no connection from neutral to earth.

    cutting a glassfibre(?) bath panel

u should be able to cut it with a jigsaw but it needs to be one with speed control and use a fine tooth blade and cut it from the back or use a reverse cut blade (designed for laminates), just take it slow. a angle grinder will often make a neater cut but its difficult to be precise.

Working in america as an electrician

interesting idea, im not sure what the yanks use as qualifications. I've seen engineers jobs advertised and a ONC or HNC is considered highly state side. They tend to use parially skilled people doing individual jobs and still love conduit! I think they are beginning to change there idears...

    Mechanical Protection

we should look at europe they use rigid round cable a million times better for the majority of installations than MI SWA T+E etc sorry but MI is so last century  it costs a futune to install i can see your the resons for your arguements but those are special installations, if the...

    Mechanical Protection

Selection and errection! i all depends on the environment it is placed, T+E will be suitable in some environments SWA in others SWA with a 6mm steel capping will be required in others, MICC is only suitable if there is no vibration perfect cable routes etc, i've inspected countless...

    Submersible Cable box

There is several options, i would extend the cables and fit the transformers above the water line. i would expect the transformers will be ok if fitted in a resin sealed joint kit the water will keep them cool but one big enough is going to get expensive. simple primitive solutions, fit the...
