    Replace Concrete Manhole Cover

I would like to replace this manhole cover with one that is recessed to accept cut paving or blocks. As you can see the fitting is completely concrete. Any advice please on removing the concrete and replacing with a recessed metal one. [/img]

Thanks very much didn't know that. I am going to cover the SWA with electric warning tape.

    Garden tap advice

I'll still go at least 45cm down but will take your advice and run it in ducting. The main reason for having the tap there is for filling up the water bowl regularly and hosing down the kennel base when dirty. I was going to run a hosepipe off of it for both of these tasks (which is what I...

    Garden tap advice

I want a water tap about 10m from the rear of my garage to the rear garden for use next to my dogs kennel. I already have the supply coming out of the back of the garage with a stop tap and check valve inside the garage. I was planning to connect MDPE pipe to this and run underground and up the...

    Water and electrics

:? I have to run SWA from the house through the back garden. This will be buried at 45cm and run through some plastic pipe for ease of replacement if necessary. I also have to run some MDPE pipe from roughly the same place parallel to the SWA for an outside water tap within the garden. This...

    Outside Electrics

I can't go diagonally because the length of the concrete base is about 14 feet. The area that it would be fixed to the base is between the side of the kennel and the boundary hedge. There is no reason for anyone to go down the side other than to cut the hedge.

    Outside Electrics

Don't know if I've made myself clear. It would be very visible but I was thinking about coming out of the ground then running it horizontally along the side edge of the concrete before going up the back of the kennel in to the area for the socket etc. The concrete is about 20cm high. Don't know...

davy_owen_88: Can the SWA be attached to the side of the concrete?

    Outside Electrics

Where the socket etc. would be located and the way that the SWA would be routed would make it impossible for either water ingress or dog pee to come into contact with any of these things. I don't know anything about sec. 605. davy_owen_88 seems to think that this does not apply to this...

    Outside Electrics

Didn't know that the bulbs could make a noise, will consider it if he shows any signs of disconfort, thanks. After looking at where the SWA will have to go to get to the back of the kennel, when I reach the front of the kennel the digging will be very difficult. The concrete base stands about...

    Outside Electrics

So davy_owen_88, the SWA would just be a radial circuit with a metalclad socket then two FCU's one for the outdoor socket and one for the light? 1. Will I need to have space on my CU for this circuit on the RCD or non-RCD side? If I do it as you suggest I should be able to install the...

    Foundation size

I am going to have a free standing garden wall built in an L shape from dressed stone under 1m high. I'm not sure yet what width the stone will be. Can anyone tell me please the formula I will need to work out the width and depth of the foundation I will need and what depth the top of the...

    Outside Electrics

At the minute it's just a car work lamp attached to the mesh but I was going to have a bulkhead light in the roof space. I agree with using a low energy bulb. I know you can't give an estimate I was just wondering if it was going to cost a couple of hundred quid or nearer £500. I can do all...

    Outside Electrics

I have a very large wooden kennel about 10 metres away from the house. Just as a temporary measure I have an extension cable plugged into an outside socket that runs off of the RCD side of the CU. This power supplies a 180W heater and a 60W light. The plugs are on a shelf above the dogs bed...

    Faulty RCD?

I know that it's not an appliance moving from one circuit to another. Yes, the RCD does seem to be doing its job but I can't understand why it is tripping inconsistantly. More digging will have to be done.

    Faulty RCD?

This gets even weirder. I'm not able to test at the minute but I was just checking an FCU where I know the screws are particularly long to check no wires were pinched and it's OK. Tried the RCD again and now it will reset on all circuits except one. The weird thing is that it's a different...

    Faulty RCD?

No other work. I found the loose wire because the outside socket is on the circuit that was tripping and I was checking to see if there was any moisture inside and found one of the neutrals loose. Like I said before I sorted out this socket the other two circuits MCBs were working fine on the...

    Faulty RCD?

Yes it does reset when the main switch is off. But I can't understand why this morning the RCD worked fine with 2 out of the 3 circuits on the RCD side and now won't reset when all 3 circuits MCBs are switched off.
