Incoming water cold mains water flow is 14L/min measured off kitchen tap. Is that sufficient not to be frustrating slow for filling bath etc?

WB 30CDi being installed Monday - does it need notifying?

WB 30CDi being installed Monday - does it need notifying?

Cheers Dan. I had already bought the TRV's (and some extra lagging) with a view to those bits of the job myself in a room by room renovation I was doing... I suppose that this accelerates the whole process. I do understand the limits of the hot water. It will not be as 'good' as the HW...

WB 30CDi being installed Monday - does it need notifying?

I had my old normal boiler condemned today - Friday 13th and all that... :? Having a WB Greenstar 30CDi fitted in Monday and the tanks and cisterns removed. Few questions. 1) We have an 'average size' four bed semi-detached with one bathroom + one downstairs wc/basin and small ensuite...

Checking facts before buying wooden floor. Advice welcome

Hi Matty. I'll have a look around. If woodyoulike (or similar) have what I'm after and the price is reasonable then l'm always happy to pay a small margin for good advice and good service. Cheers again.

Checking facts before buying wooden floor. Advice welcome

Hello all. Ive been trawling around the forum and getting lots of essential info thanks to woodyoulike and his/her fellow tradesmen. I think I am almost there but I just wanted to check.. I am laying engineered oak throughout downstairs. The current floor is 1930's floorboards and more...

How do I put rad pipes in a wall chase please?

Thanks for the inpu tGents. Chris. Since posting that I found your helpful response on a similar question where you advised gluing some thin lagging around the pipe and try to avoid any joints by using a pipe bender if possible. I also saw the method using the flexi conduit from...

How do I put rad pipes in a wall chase please?

I need to chase rad pipes into a 100mm thick breeze wall as my SO. would like one of the fancy rads, and would like the full 'hotel look' with pipes coming from the wall. The pipes have to travel up behind skirting and up about 8" behind plaster. What's the best way to do that...

    Door thresholds, uneven floors etc

Im not a tradesman but... I've used nice hardwood thresholds to great effect to get different level floors to look well finished. Thick tiles to low varnished floorboards....carpet to laminate...you name it...a nicely finished threshold the same width as the door in a suitable wood always...

Creating and access panel in engineered wood flooring

You know what Matty. I might do just what you suggest. The 'two of each' approach will probably work but ... you know one day that you will need another hdmi or cat5.... Plus Im loathed to spend cash on cables that I may never use. Any road ...in conclusion I may run them in trunking...

Creating and access panel in engineered wood flooring

Thanks Big-All. I understand that its not that flexible but neither is the position of furniture in our tiny sitting room! :-) PVC skirting board trunking would be ideal but the wife hates the look of it (and Im not that keen either). The big issue is that I need to be able to pull new...

Creating and access panel in engineered wood flooring

Very shallow void under the floor! Also I have not yet put this new floor down so the oppportunity to make a neat access solution is where I am at. I need an accessible trunking system as I trial different AV set ups quite frequently and hence cabling needs to change...

Creating and access panel in engineered wood flooring

Hello forum! I need an access trap in the new engineered oak floor I will lay in a living room. Only small - say 100mm by 100mm. It will go behind the TV cabinet and will be used to pull through VGA, network, coax and speaker cables that will run under the floor in 100mm X 75mm plastic...

Advice on plywood to cover floorboards

I've just done the same job. 6mm ply nailed down with annular ringed 20mm nails. Ply was the cheapest the timber merchant had. Carpet fitted in top and it seems fine. 6mm is everywhere and is usually price watched. For a small ensuite with tiles I have done the same using 6mm but also...

Will an Electrician sign off photos of my trench cable run??

Hi Breezer. I realise its down to the individual but I wondered what you guys would think. I will not fill in the trench if you had all said that none of you would have accepted it... Know what I mean? Thanks again folks. Appreciate it.

Will an Electrician sign off photos of my trench cable run??

The cable is plenty big enough....from what I remember. I bought it ages ago and vaugely remember getting 'bigger than I needed'. If the sparky isnt happy with the cable size then that is my expensive mistake! If photos aren't good enough I can do video and maybe 3D holograms at push ;-)...
