New conservatory, are my doors on the wrong way round??

We've recently had our old conservatory replaced and the job is nearly completed. But I've just noticed something that worried me yesterday. Now this may be a stupid question but I found it very odd that the hinges were on the outside of the door with what looked like allen key bolts securing...

    Dulux eggshell problem

Why would I need to phone Brewers? We got the paint direct from our local Dulux centre and they said eggshell was fine for the bathroom.

    Dulux eggshell problem

Surprised nobody has been able to offer any wisdom on this. I'm wondering did I get a bad batch of paint. When condensation has got to it, it very quickly becomes tacky and oily/greasy to the touch and when it's dried up it leaves faint water marks on the wall.

    Frog tape - Bleeding

Sorry what's a skim? In future I probably won't bother with tape when it's that uneven as tape seems to cause more problems than it's worth.

    Frog tape - Bleeding

My first paint job ever was doing the bathroom several weeks ago, unfortunately lots of bleeding due to uneven plaster between ceiling and wall. Like what you did, well done.

    Dulux eggshell problem

About 4 weeks ago I painted my bathroom with Dulux Eggshell. The previous finish which had been done about 5 years ago was matt paint (not eggshell) that had been applied on a wall lined with paper. This time preparation involved a very light sanding and a wipe down using sugar soap solution...

    GoSystem QP8088H Gas Blow Torch

Purchased this last week for £30 on ebay to do some pipework using pre-soldered fittings without any issues at all. Not having had experience of brazing I looked at Youtube videos before using and all the torches had a really well defined central cone of flame. Using this torch not so, pls see...

    Draining system (Combi boiler)

I've replaced/added several radiators and all seems to be water tight but I'm going to give it another week before adding inhibitor just to be sure. When it comes time to add the inhibitor what I was thinking of doing is draining only one rad and locking all the others off. Doing only a partial...

Putting up shelves. Wood to use?

Maybe I should have been better prepared but I ended up having to do some cutouts to fit around pipework, more than I had originally thought. Cutting plywood with a circular saw is not something I recommend or maybe the blade (standard) was not suitable but the cut was messy leaving small bits...

Putting up shelves. Wood to use?

I'm putting up shelves in and an airing cupboard and a storage cupboard and was wondering what type of wood would I be best off using. I'm going to be buying a sheet of wood which will be cut up as single pieces (88.5cm x 59cm). Shelves won't be carrying anything heavy and will only be supported...

Which part of towel radiator valve connection is PTFE reqd?

Hi Madrab, As I thought, the rubber O-ring is sufficient as a sealer. Thanks for confirming :)

Which part of towel radiator valve connection is PTFE reqd?

Okay I understand you need about 15 turns of ptfe on the tail to rad thread, since it's metal to metal. On the other side of the connection i.e. the valve to copper pipe there is a compression fitting so that's taken care of. BUT the tail to valve bit I've seen folk wrap ptfe tape on the...

Radiators which are not completely true

I know, not one rad of the larger size I've received has been right, either it's been dented or bowed. They are a pain to handle as I'm on my own trying to fit something that's awkward to handle and weights 60kg. The Parcel Force guys get very annoyed when they have to deliver them and tbh I...

Radiators which are not completely true

I've fitted several double panel radiators recently and two 1800mm & 2000mm (Kudox from Screwfix) were not completely true along their length making it difficult to fit onto the middle bracket properly as they normally bowed outwards in the middle. I've either had to try and bend out the bracket...

    Kudox radiators, never again

Yup, the decorative grills are a pita but then again I paid a lot less than the next make would have cost.

    Kudox radiators, never again

To be fair diagnosing faults and removing the plugs from radiator ports is a bit of a leap!
