I'm afraid I don't know what you mean by a P shaped screen. Mine is curved glass with a clear flexible sealing strip on the bottom edge.

Thanks for that. I'm not sure that it's installed incorrectly. I think it's more to do with the fact that it's resting on the bath edge that slopes inwards. When dry there's enough friction between the seal and the bath to keep it in place. I bet if I removed the seal so that the screen...

Finally got round to looking at the dripping cold tap in our bathroom, assuming the washer needs replacing. Should be an easy job, I've looked up videos etc. I screwed the "C" off, undid the screw underneath, pulled the cross-head off and went to remove the shroud (I think it's called that)...

Thanks for the update. I actually finished this job some time ago. I ended up whittling away at the new doughnut until the cistern sat low enough that it met the existing pipework.

Just thought I'd follow up now that the job's done. The handles did indeed just pull off - or at least with a bit of persuasion from a screwdriver. The shroud actually screwed off as well. Maybe if I'd known that, screwing the shrouds off would possibly have forced off the handles. Turns...
