    yes ive looked at the diagram but just cant figure out why where these two wires are to be joined with. ive got the upstairs working ok from the switch but the feed to the next one i've messed up. any ideas? i cant take a pic at the min but i'll try and draw a diagram of what i've done.

    yes your quite right ignore the wiring that was me just putting them in for picture purposes i've wired it this way, brown with brown, blue/blue im then left with two browns which when i tested on multimeter gave me a reading when i flipped the switch which was the downstairs light. now...

    oh ok thanks, im way off the length i always leave them is too much as i think you need to bend the wires back of them selves but i end up breaking the core inside the terminals. just hope i dont cut them too short like last time. thanks

    i've just added three new sockets onto the ring, but im always having a problem gettings the cables back into the box so as to screw the faceplate back on. what length do i need the wires and is it best to cut the the pvc jacket just below the grommit? ta
