Building a 'Garden Room/summer house' (moved from Projects)

Thanks all, that all checks out fine. What do you think to the wall construction I am envisaging? Also what about using the existing corrugated sheets over the top of OSB on the roof? Thanks!

Building a 'Garden Room/summer house' (moved from Projects)

Hi all, I am about to build a Garden Room / Summer House down my garden from scratch, and I would like some hints tips and advice please? I have just created a new big shed at the bottom of my garden, so that I can strip the existing shed (well its actually 7metres x 2.5 metres) and take...

DIY Flush of Boiler with F3 - worked but not for long

Hi all, Well I did this again but used Kilrock Big K from Robert Dyas Store. Its Formic Acid so is quite caustic, but certainly did a good job.... I think. I have realised that of course I was descaling the central heating heat exchanger, but probably not the Hot Water heat...

DIY Flush of Boiler with F3 - worked but not for long

Thanks for that, much appreciated. If DS40 is essentially Citric Acid, then could I just get hold of some of that instead? or is that a silly idea?

DIY Flush of Boiler with F3 - worked but not for long

mmm I see...... having to get someone to resolder joints just under the boiler might not be ideal. Whats the current thought on push fit leading into the inlet and then coming off the outlet? I know that its used elsewhere on my system and handles the heat fine

DIY Flush of Boiler with F3 - worked but not for long

Hi all, I am looking for some advice on my DIY Flush that I carried out and only got partial success from..... I have a Vokera Eclipse Combi I rigged up a drill pump using garden hose, and a bowl, and attached to the inlet and outlet pipes of the boiler. I used Fernox F3 (not DS3)...

Vokera Eclipse - possible heat exchanger descale? noisy bubb

absolutely, but funnily enough I just had a few moments earlier and found that I could get them on ebay..... about £50 to £70 mark mostly. problem I've got is that I really want to get cracking this weekend, so I think I will investigate, try and descale, and if that works and isnt too bad...

Vokera Eclipse - possible heat exchanger descale? noisy bubb

Thanks Nickso, thats really helpful. I'll have a look-see tomorrow and get an idea of what I am letting myself in for but if £87 is correct then thats not so bad at all.

Vokera Eclipse - possible heat exchanger descale? noisy bubb

To be fair I would replace it, but looking online they are many hundreds of pounds.....!

Vokera Eclipse - possible heat exchanger descale? noisy bubb

Yeah you are probably right! Well, I am the type that has to try and DIY so I'm going to give it a go I think (I built my extension on my own except for the brickwork)..... so I guess I am stubborn and dont want to spend the money and watch them to find it was easy all along!!! A boiler...

Vokera Eclipse - possible heat exchanger descale? noisy bubb

Hi again all, I had a quote of £260 for a power flush, but I downloaded the service manual and it seems to suggest its a pretty easy extraction of the DHW Heat exchanger...... I know manuals are liars but does anyone have any knowledge of how difficult this may be? Manual says: 6.16...

Vokera Eclipse - possible heat exchanger descale? noisy bubb

Hi all, thanks for the advice. Hmm, sounds like taking out the H/E might be a bit difficult then..... Cleaning in situ I had looked at, and using either a very DIY approach again with the drill pump connected to the inlet and outlet.... or by hiring a machine from HSS.... Agile, what...

Vokera Eclipse - possible heat exchanger descale? noisy bubb

Hi all, I have an old Vokera Eclipse combi boiler and it has gradually been getting noisier (rumbling bubbling noise) and the hot water has been gradually getting less hot...... it takes forever to run a tepid bath. After reading around the web it seems fairly obvious (please feel free to...

Vokera Linea 28 Error Code 04

Hi all, I had the same problem and had Vokera come out to fix it.... Its a temperature sensor that has gone wrong.... a teeny little thing. Once he swapped the new one in the problems dissappeared.... easy

felt backed carpet - laying onto plywood or similar?

Thanks guys. Thin ply seems the way to go then. I agree it will still be cold, but to be fair the room will end up being more of a kids room, as now I am a bit older I will spend more time in the kitchen which has its own telly and sofa..... therefore the kids rushing about will warm it up...

felt backed carpet - laying onto plywood or similar?

Hello all, I am planning on putting down felt backed carpet on to my extremely drafty floorboards in the front room. I have a number of air bricks that are under the floorboard level which will provide the correct level of ventilation to stop any rot. My plan is to screw down some large...
