    Best way to cut mdf

If it was me i would use plywood, and cut it by hand with a nice sharp saw, jigsaw will go all over the pace. If you have the measurements you could always get a piece of Ply from B&Q and get them to cut it for you, job done :-)

    Yale wireless?

In my opinion no they are not reliable. Don't know about the contact, it may work it may not. The batteries do not stay charged, they will need replacing. My advice would be to get 3 quotes from local independent professional security installers, (NSI or SSAIB registered), if you are...

    DIY Van Service?

Have to agree with whats been said, if brakes involved get the garage to do it, £450.00 may seem expensive now, but it will seem awfully cheap if you trash the van and can't work because of a failure somewhere.

    Alarm manual info

You can try it, but most people change it. Also remove all power BEFORE you connect, you will also need to confirm the new keypad on the system, if you don't have an installation manual i would suggest you get and alarm installer to do this for you, you could end up with blown fuses, and the...

    Floor tiles on chipboard floors

Chipboard is NOT suitable for tiling onto, that is why it has failed, with overboard with 15MM WPB ply or replace the lot with 25MM ply, screwed 150-200mm making sure you use noggins st the joints. Use a quality flexible rapid set adhesive, such as BAL, and follow their instructions with...

Advice on changing loft space for storage

    1. Yes 2. If the roof has traditional felt and no ventilation, this could be a problem, 3. Seek advice from an Architect or structural engineer, don't want to come through the ceiling playing the keyboard 4. Will need regs as far as i can tell, have a look here...

Sink blockage, cleaned downed to the outer wall.

Looks to me like it was supposed to have nuts and they have been snapped of, the plate has probably been glued into place if this is the case, have you tried prising it open gently with a wide flat bladed pallet knife or similar, you need to take care not to crack it as cast is brittle.

    Dual tech' PIRs - Good/Bad ?

And there is still something missing from this thread, if it is a grade 3 system, then the DualTechs (whatever they are) will have to have Anti Masking, this could also be the cause of the false activations., as i have already said, without confirmation of which sensors are installed we are...

    Dual tech' PIRs - Good/Bad ?

The requirements of Grade 3 if i remember correctly would mean that sensors should still work at about 9.6V, the only way i can help any further is if i know which DualTechs are installed, like i said picture would be good. Saying that 11V is definitely too low, battery could be duff causing...

Checking Standby Battery for Charge Rates

Hi, by charge rate i assume you mean the ability of the battery to accept a charge from the panel. To check the battery you need to do a load test, to make sure the battery can perform under the total load of the system if the mains fails, that includes activations which will of course draw...

    Dual tech' PIRs - Good/Bad ?

Still does not mean it needs six core cable :D It could be 4 it could be more depends on other options available on some sensors, the one thing you have not told us is the make of the sensor. Picture would be good.

How to seal a plaster wall which is not to be painted.

Why not get a paint in the colour of the plaster, mist coat first with basic 50/50 white emulsion water, then paint with a soft sheen or similar mixed by Dulux Trade or the likes, PVA should not be used in my opinion, and any form of oil base will mean you could not paint or paper in the future...

    Dual tech' PIRs - Good/Bad ?

Dualtechs mostly need both to trigger, there are some with an either/or function but they are rare, and in the wrong application extremely unreliable. I assume this is an access circuit and you have a contact on the door? I would not use a sensor for entry exit, unless there was no way...

    Tiling over exstiting floor tiles.

    which tv? for cctv

What connections have you got on the DVR, why not just wire it into your existing TV rather than buying another, unless of course you want a dedicated screen for the cameras. Have you got a spec for the DVR?
