Internal Ethernet cables after Openreach gigabit FTTH install

We are in the process of having FTTH installed using the Openreach gigabit voucher scheme. I believe an engineer will install a box outside (CSP box) and then run the cable inside to an ONT box which converts the signal to a LAN signal. Our ONT box will be positioned in a storage space in the...

Replacing old Fluorescent Lights with LED batten

Are the LEDs replaceable on the panels or do you replace the whole panel? If the whole panel is replaced it seems a lot more expensive option in the long term?

Replacing old Fluorescent Lights with LED batten

That is very helpful. The kitchen is pretty bright so I wouldn't mind a small drop in light, but sounds like the 4FT 22W might be too much of a drop. Perhaps the 5FT would be better - I just want to make sure the wiring is going to be as easy as the one @dannyboi2003 suggested

Replacing old Fluorescent Lights with LED batten

I am doing a similar job - replacing two old 6FT 58W fluorescent lights with LED battens. @dannyboi2003 I like your suggestion above as it seems the easiest swap out for a DIYer in terms of cable entry point and dealing with an earth cable. I was reading here that 22W is a replacement for the...

The old 68mm to 63mm down pipe problem.

@dal5band I have the same issue and was looking for a solution. I have old 63mm pipe going underground into a drain. Have bought new guttering and downpipe which is 68mm. As you say the 68mm new pipe fits over top of 63mm but is slack. Is this what you mean by a 68mm m/f joining socket? You...

Condensation in loft after new velux windows

@Mr Chibs The bathroom is an ensuite of a bedroom that isn't used at the moment; the only thing used in the bathroom is the toilet. The ceiling ventilation in the bathroom is still there but is not connected to the tile vent so I guess hot air, although not steamy, could be entering the loft...

Condensation in loft after new velux windows

@Mr Chibs Loft hatch is the old fashioned lift out that has insulation taped on loft side I cant see any obvious ventilation in the roof apart from two tile vents that used to be used for bathroom ventilation, but the bathroom duct has been removed from the tile vent so should be letting some...

Condensation in loft after new velux windows

Earlier this year we had two new loft windows (see link below) installed to replace some very old rusty iron ones that smashed in high winds. I have now noticed condensation building upon on the inside of the glass and wonder what might be the cause and the best/easiest way to remedy this. Here...

Shower doesn’t start until I open a tap

Ok, I will try this in the morning as my son has just used the shower so it will start fine now without having to run the tap first. It is when it has been left for a while that I notice the issue. Will report back Thanks

Shower doesn’t start until I open a tap

Thanks for the replies, and apologies for the slow response (PC issues). The shower is on the ground floor and the hot water tank is in a cupboard on the floor above. The cold is mains fed and the hot is mains fed but goes through the pump (to increase water pressure I assume) which is on the...
