    NEFF Fridge not cold enough

May thanks for your reply Dev. Yeah, I took the oak panel door off straight away and replaced the seal (which was perished) thinking that would sort that, but I will try the playing card trick and if the seal isn't good enough I guess I'm into new hinges? The hinges aren't cheap though...

    NEFF Fridge not cold enough

Hi there folks Sorry to Bump this thread, but this isn't working. I'm getting an average of 8C in the fridge and we're still having to bin food. How do I check whether the thermostat is working properly? I mean how do I tell if the fridge has stopped working at trying to get colder? If the...

    NEFF Fridge not cold enough

Update.....turning the control knob to Max at number4, the temp in the fridge has now decreased to 5C. So, it's getting down to a normalise range I guess, but only when max power setting is selected and if the door isn't opened too many times. I there anything else I should be looking at?

    NEFF Fridge not cold enough

Hi there, we've just moved into a house with a built in NEFF fridge, probably a good few years old. It's not getting cold enough, we've tested the temp with a free standing fridge thermometer and it wasn't going below 10C, so we were throwing loads of food away. Following the advice in the...

Trying to identify a hole in the ground!!

Or a fancy wine cellar! Seriously, depending on what it and another hole in the back garden are, I was winding whether they could be used for rain water storage system.....

Trying to identify a hole in the ground!!

Yeah, I know that's what I should do, but........ The soil size pipe points parallel to our house's front wall which is only about 4' away, the smaller pipe points towards our front wall but at an angle. It doesn't match up with any pipework in the house and we have concrete floors there, so...

Trying to identify a hole in the ground!!

Oh, just realised I didn't answer your question - no we are on mains sewerage. The house was built on what had been farming land in the 1920s, so it could be the remnants of a land drainage system I suppose. I can only see the one pipe going in at the moment, I'll check tomorrow for another one...

Trying to identify a hole in the ground!!

Thanks to you both, the hole is beneath a standard size drain cover if that helps make sense of the scale. Would a septic tank, even one dating back as old as the house (1920s) not have been lined with tar or something?

Trying to identify a hole in the ground!!

Hi there, I have the following hole in the ground at the front of our house and I just wondered whether anyone might throw any light on what it could have been used for. Obviously I'm thinking it was either a well or some sort of sesspit. Are there any features which might identify...

    Karcher Pressure Washer

Thank you John, very much appreciated. I was just wondering, why does the motor need a capacitor? Just wondering how this set up works? And does this capacitor hold electric charge like a telly - do I need to be careful when handling it?! A final question - you sound like you have dealt...

    Karcher Pressure Washer

Thanks, just what I thought. That is the white cylindrical bit bolted to the motor then? Looks like a giant strip light starter?

    Karcher Pressure Washer

Hi there. I have a Karcher pressure washer which I've had for a few years but has only had light use and hasn't been used for the last 2 years. It was working fine last time I used it. When I turn it on it makes a humming sound as if it wants to start going, but doesn't. I've tried...

    Fridge Freezer in garage question

Hi there, we have an old fridge freezer in the garage and we're finding it isn't' keeping food frozen in this cold spell. I've read the manual and searched here and I've found that this is commonplace. The manual states that if the appliance is run when the ambient temp is less than 14C, for a...

Think I've been sent the wrong LNB...........

Hi there, I'm new to satellite systems, but I'm installing a new satellite to get Freesat. I spent most of today getting wound up getting the thing installed, I wasn't getting a quality picture and some channels aren't received at all, notably BBC HD channels. So having checked everything...

Mira Sport 9kw has stopped working.....

OK, good thing this has been moved to electrics, after some investigation with the help of members of the forum above, it looks like this is an electrical problem and I'll need to call an electrician out. At the isolator switch the incoming cable is only showing 190v. What could be causing...

Mira Sport 9kw has stopped working.....

Hi there. I see someone else posted a similar topic here, but there was no answer found, so; The power light is lit, but lowly and flickering, when I push the "Start" button the power light goes out and no water comes out - nothing happens. This is the same regardless of settings selected...

    Cannon gas oven problem

Hi there, Let me first say I'm not going to be attempting this work myself, as it's a problem with a gas oven. I'm trying to narrow down what the cause might be and then decide whether to get Cannon out (they charge quite a high fixed fee), or whether it might be cheaper to get a local in...
