    Loft insulation - 95mm joists

Yeah I get that, and have seen the 270mm recommendation. But I'm not going to re-pitch my roof (which would require the neighbours to do the same as it's a semi) to be able to move the boiler up (the flue is already as close to the apex as possible) to be able to raise the floor to accommodate...

    Loft insulation - 95mm joists

Why? Been used for storage since I've been in it - nearly 10 years. But it will surely be better than nothing or even what I have at the moment. My boiler is up there and is already at the minimum clearance below for servicing.

    Loft insulation - 95mm joists

Hi, As title, loft joists are 95mm finished dimension. It's part boarded with 1 layer of thin fibre glass roll sitting on the ceiling below at the moment so looking to swap it all. My loft is already shallow pitch and have services up there which would make loft legs or similar a no (to get...

    Lighting ideas

As an alternative can you get a really small touchless sensor with a short contact for a light switch. Something that you hover your hand over I'd rather not mount an 86x86mm standard switch!

I've just come across "fibre optic" lighting. Anyone know about that?

    Lighting ideas

Hi, I have around and over bed wardrobes. The over bed units are 1600mm wide and the bed is ~1400mm wide so I have some filler strips either side (the bed is not right back against the wall as there is a slim shelf). I want to put some recessed LEDs in the side filler strips and some "puck"...

    Shower LED Exhaust Grilles

Well we do have a gap at bottom of door and our bathroom used to be separate toilet and bathroom so actually has 2 windows. If I put a cloth against the internal grille suction seems good. I'll check the outlet as well.

    Shower LED Exhaust Grilles

Hi, Does anyone know any aesthetically pleasing looking ones? All the ones on Google Images look like things from 70s! I currently have 4 normal downlights in a square pattern set symmetrical to the room, with a 4" exhaust grille dead center connected to a Manrose MF100T in the loft vented...

    Home telephone/broadband...

Is it worth reporting this to Ofcom?

    Home telephone/broadband...

Do you work for Vodafone :D Yeah I know they all use BTs cabling; I use my own network kit (Unifi) so all good on that front, but which restricts me to suppliers who allow it in the first place. I've said I'll think about it and ring them back tomorrow. I might say I'll only rejoin with them...

    Home telephone/broadband...

OK, so... my account is also flagged as inactive which tells the system the contract is cancelled. A "Last Bill" has been generated (which I haven't seen) totalling a couple of hundred (which is itself wrong given the remaining term X monthly cost), but this has been waived because of the cockup...

    Home telephone/broadband...

Totally agree with that, but as things stand I have no contract as it's been cancelled, and have so far been told I need to rejoin them with a new contract. I'll know more when I ring them later.

    Home telephone/broadband...

They actually asked that... 100% no. My wife leaves me to sort this stuff out and my 9 year old son... highly doubtful :D

    Home telephone/broadband...

do you mean from a contract perspective? Since I joined in November last year I've had 6 outages so I'm not exactly happy to date! I did ask about this yesterday but it was a bit "computer say no" - I haven't escalated so will do that when I ring them back

    Home telephone/broadband...

Had absolutely no notification in any way... letter, email, text, phone. But that might be because the new order was done on 26 July.

    Home telephone/broadband...

Yeah still in contract- 8 months in to a 24 month'er. Oddly they can see no 'audit' of the process from this other person selecting my address on their new order. Apparently it literally shows Order received > Line/service cancelled. The guy I spoke to and his manager have no idea what's...

    Home telephone/broadband...

Hi, I've been with Vodafone since November and woke up this morning to no service. So called them up and they are saying it looks like somebody has placed a new order with them for my address. This has meant my whole line and broadband service has been completely terminated - no notice or...

    New bath trap leaking

Finally got it sorted. Binned the supplied rubber washer that sits between the waste and bottom of the bath and used Fernox LSX after seeing it mentioned on older posts here. Something with my bath obviously not right with this waste's supplied washer vs. previous waste and washer. Thanks for...

    New bath trap leaking

Would it be that ONLY when draining though? And only when it's full. As the bath is draining the water reduces and eventually eventually slows, almost stops, when it's drained past that halfway mark I mentioned. Haven't checked much higher up to be honest, but now you say that the join between...
