HELP NEEDED - AM I BEING RIPPED OFF?

Spark, The mcb supplying the cellar is 32A. There are two other 32A mcb's on the box - one for the rest of the sockets in the house and one for the cooker. There is also a 6A mcb which supplies all the lights in the house.

HELP NEEDED - AM I BEING RIPPED OFF?

Thanks spark123, the fuse box doesn't have wire, it has switches - he told me the box was 40 years old - could you get this type 40 years ago (fuse box is a wylex 404). The house is a 3 bed terraced. The problem circuit is in the cellar which runs a washer, tumble drier, fridge-freezer and...

HELP NEEDED - AM I BEING RIPPED OFF?

Thanks for the replies so far. My main concern is that he is wanting to do work that isn't required. We only have 1 circuit that is tripping - everything else in the house is fine. This doesn't sound like a fuse box problem to me. Is he just going for the guaranteed fix that isn't necessarily...

replace rad with towel rail problem

Thanks for the replies. I don't know if this is possible or not, but could I just leave the old valves on the copper pipes and then run an extension from the valves to the new towel rail? If I can, this will save me draining the system won't it? Thanks Rob

Hi, I want to replace the rad in our bathroom with a towel rail. The current rad is 800mm wide, the c/h runs off a vokera 20/80 combi boiler and this rad doesn't have a trv. The problem I have is that the towel rail is only 600mm wide so I will have to take off the valves to try and...

I will check with the neighbours to see if they have any problems. I live in halifax which is a town. The area i live in is quite built up. Most of the time it is just the lights that flicker, but sometimes when the electric cuts out for a fraction of a second longer, everything will power...

    Lights dim when it rains

Im no electrician, so excuse me if I sound thick. I don't think we have an overhead supply into the house. I'm sure the supply comes under the house into the fusebox in the cellar. Is this something my supplier would charge to look at the problem? Thanks Rob
