Getting through floorboards between stud work

I am in the process of putting in some new plugs/networking into one of my rooms. The room is made from an exterior brick wall and 3 stud walls. I would like to place the two new connection (2-way plug + 3 way network point - same space as twin socket) into one of the stud walls around 60cm...

    Moving pipework inside stud wall

How would that provide access to the pipework under the stud wall as you are always going to cut on a beam meaning there is some floorboard between the gap and the stud. Pretty sure the pipework comes from the cupboard behind rather than running under the floor to the stud wall thus providing...

    Moving pipework inside stud wall

I have not got a problem with removing the floorboards below the wall - as you say its not going to be all sitting on 1/2 floorboards but its a case of how to remove it, you can't just pull it out as its nailed to the joist in the next room (under a boiler so I cant remove them)

    Moving pipework inside stud wall

This is an intersting one - the toilet room is rather small and the floorboards run under the wall studs. I can (and have) taken up section of floorboards using a circular saw but how do you take up the board which does under the stud?

    Moving pipework inside stud wall

I am looking at replacing my toilet, the current toilet is a tradiational 70s one with a cistern on the wall which has an inlet on the right and an overflow on the left. The toilet then sits on the floor. I am looking at replacing it with a more compact version where the cistern / bowl...

Use New or Existing Waste pipe

Thanks for the help so far. Am i right in thinking you just put a Boss adapter to 32mm pipe (think thats the right size for basin waste) to that bit on the stack i.e. something like this...

    Airbricks in Lean-To

In my lean too there are 2 airbricks on the side of the original house. It appears that some little friends are crawling out of them and into the conservatory. Would it be dangerous to place a temporary cover over the air-bricks?

Use New or Existing Waste pipe

This is the soil pipe I was looking to attach to. You can see what looks like a section to join into (never done soil plumbing) but as you can see to the left of it is the main toilet waste entry into the stack. Would you connect it there or am I going to have to connect it higher above the...

Use New or Existing Waste pipe

Sorry yeah I meant the Soil stack. Looking at it there appears to be a bit on it already to attach a pipe to (I will take a picture). I am pretty sure that it enters the stack just above the toilet waste part.

Use New or Existing Waste pipe

I am looking to put a basin into my toilet. The toilet is situated in the same room as the main waste pipe. Next to the toilet is the bathroom which has a sink & bath. Both of these go into a single waste pipe which runs down through the floor and then along the ceiling below (boxed in). This...

How to prepare walls before painting after wallpaper

I have now finished the joyfull task of removing the lovely woodchip wallpaper from my new bedroom. The walls had 2 layers of the stuff with the top layer painted. That has now all been removed but it looks like under that they had a blue painted room. As a result of the scrapping getting the...

    Space around built-in single oven

I was attempting to fit my built under oven last night and got a bit of a shock as to how much room there was between the back of the unit and the wall. There is not even enough room for a 30A junction box. For ~70% of the unit i think once in (the junction box and a gas pipe need moving) there...

    Filling ununsed holes

In my house there are a couple of old 25mm flush boxes which have cable running to them. The used to be used many years ago as power for heaters wired into economy7 supply. The cables are no longer in use and are dead. Rather than putting a blanking plate over the holes is there an easy way to...

    Gas hob installation cost

Lots of posts about installing hobs and how I can't use a flex hose which the old cooker was fitted using. What a fair price for fitting a gas hob from a Corgi person? Also any ideas on how much to just cap a old gas line to a fire? ___________________________ moderator please note 9

    Consumer Unit layout

Hmm probably easier then just to leave the main ring alone and have the office on its own. Upstairs other than the office there is not going to be much using power

    Consumer Unit layout

Having thought about this a bit more I am now thinking it might be a good idea to try and put a new ring upstairs as i am putting in a number of items into the office and also a number of electric gizmos into the living room and i don't want to be overloading the main ring main. As i have not...
