I'm replacing a ring circuit in my flat and am also replacing all the skirting board. Could I lay the cable in conduit behing the skirting board or am I better laying them beneath the floorboards. I'd like to do this the proper way, behind the skirting board just seems easier. Any opinions...

I have an old Baxi Brazilia wall heater in a room that I would like to remove. I had a gas fitter check it when he was in doing another job and it is no longer connected to the gas supply. Does anyone know if I can simply remove it from the wall? I would imagine that there is some kind of flue...

I've got some walls to get skimmed in a couple of rooms, I am also replacing the skirting in these rooms. Am I better getting the plasterer to skim before I put the skirting on or vice versa? Thanks

I've just realised that my new window fan is not working in the kitchen. I recently rewired the kitchen and everything else works fine. I have a switched FCU for the fan on the ring circuit, I then have a wire going from the load terminals to a connecting plate which is connected to the fan...

There's an NTL box at the front of my living room, from the box comes the phone cable and the TV/broadband cables. I'd like to move the box to the other side of the room (about 25 feet away - where the TV will be going) Is this possible or do I need to extend the cables coming from the box?

Thanks, I'll have a look at the Artex Skimcoat and maybe try it on a small wall. Most of the area will be covered by units, tiles and there is some wooden cladding under the window too.

I've now finished 5 new partition walls in the kitchen. Is there an easy way to skim them myself (no experience with plaster at all) or am I best getting a plasterer in ? Cheers

I have been wiring in an extractor fan in my kitchen this morning. I left a stanley knife on top of the fan while I went into the living room to answer the phone, after about 10 minutes I heard floods of water an ran to the kitchen. The knife had somehow managed to fall to the floor, on it's way...
