    Broadband

Is anyone using the NTL 3 for £30. Phone, TV and Broadband. There are limits on the bradband but it appears that you can add extra channels to the TV like Sky Sports. A must for anyone wanting to see England wop the Aussies in the Ashes this year :D

    Water level difficulties

Thanks for the advice. I think my level is a bit more basic than the one you describe but it seems to have done the trick. That and getting all the air out the tube beforehand

    Water level difficulties

I recently bought a water level to aid levelling the sub base for a patio and the soil level in the garden. The water seems to go in ok, but when the two ends are placed next to each other the levels are different :? :? . There are no kinks in the pipe so I am totally confused. I guess there...

    router, which what and how

Could his router have an ISDN port, and if so he could be using this to connect to the web. This would look like a simple modem connection to the uninitiated! You never know he may even have a Kilostream

Building and rendering a garden wall

It all depends on what kind of finish you are after. If you are going to get reclaimed, then be careful that they are not creosote treated which leeches and is poisonous. You can buy new of course. Have a look at www.railwaysleeper.com for all the info you ever need to know about sleepers...

Building and rendering a garden wall

If you like the sleeper idea, why not use two sleepers, one on top of the other, bolted (using threaded rod) onto wooden posts concreted into the ground.

    Air Bricks

It could be that these vents are there to ensure that devices such as gas fires, wood burners, cookers etc are supplied with sufficient oxygen to operate efficiently and safely. It is likely that a 1960's bungalow would have originally had both a coal fire and boiler.

    Worcester Heatsave 9.24

We have a rather old Worcester Heatsave 9.24 that is covered by BG. Unfortunately the water diverter diaphram has gone and they can't get the part. Now it looks like I might be able to get the part off someone like www.theboilershop.co.uk for £112 pounds. Bearing in mind the cost of the part...

    consumer unit split load

If you connect the devices such as washing machine, tumble drier, fridge and freezer using fused connection units then these can all be on the non RCD side of the consumer unit. I think its usual to have these on separate MCB's in the consumer unit because of the high load they draw.

    Dry Lining

Thanks for the tips. I have heard that although dot-n-dab is relatively simple it is prone to droughts, since its not possible to insulate. The thought of having someone in to wet plaster fills me with horror.

    Dry Lining

Can anyone suggest a recommended size of timber battens when dry lining, and is it usual to insulate the space before fastening the plasterboard?

    Which Consumer unit?

    condensation

Whilst living in a caravan for a while we had quite a bit of condensation. We found some small moisture traps, plastic containers (Woolworths I think for about £5) in which you place a strange white powder in that collect the water beneath, cheap small effective and silent. Ideal for inside...

    Twin Wire Lighting.

Can anyone advise wether its possible to run the LV wires for twin wire lighting through small holes drilled in exposed beams. The power supplies also seem quite bulky, do they have to remain exposed or can they be hidden in the ceiling void or can they be sited on the other side of the...

    New consumer unit.

Theres no need to be a mind reader supersparks  Its true that I am no electrician, although judging by how much its going to cost I wish I was. I have tried to do some background reading around the subject to try and ensure that I'm not tied in knots by some silver tongued sparky...

    New consumer unit.

Hi I am looking to replace my old fusebox with a new Consumer Unit. It seems the number of makes and sizes (and prices) are massive. Does anybody have any recommendations into a good solid make, as having looked at some of them the cases seem a little flimsy to say the least. The metal...
