    Time/cost to replace consumer unit

Thanks again EFL, will get a picture or 2 up tomorrow. Would the extending of the cables from upstairs each need to be in their own junction box?

    Time/cost to replace consumer unit

The other cables (coming down inside a false wall from upstairs) will need extending. We want to move it as it currently sits higher than our hallway window, and is boxed in to a cupboard so the top of the cupboard (the shelf? not sure what its called) is actually obscuring the window sill...

    Time/cost to replace consumer unit

We'd like to have our aging consumer unit replaced, and moved about 15" lower and to the left of its original location. The cables coming out the bottom of it (that go into the meter) are long enough for the new location. Im assuming we'd need a full metal cased one now? Question, how long...

Visonic Powermax control panel siren not working

As above, recently had a Powermax fitted, and the other night the external bell box sounded (false alarm we think) but the internal 1 never sounded, but it definately did when the installer fitted it. Hes away for a couple of weeks on holiday so I cant get him round to look at it, is it easy to...

Thanks SparkyMarka Theres only 1 real access point into the rear garden, 1 of the bottom corners (still got to come through conifers the other side of the fence and climb a 6ft fence, so the detector would be mounted in the corner access would probably come from, that wont be an issue?

Protect south facing rear garden with PIR, facing the sun ok?

Am looking for an external PIR for the rear garden and looking at the Visonic Tower 20 to go with my Powermax alarm, I'm assuming the PIR is mounting on the house looking out over the area to protect? The garden is south facing so a lot of the day the PIR will be in direct sunlight, could this...

Visonic Powermax - max distance for PIR?

Thanks lums I did look at the Tower 20, was impressed with the spec (I'm not too clued up on alarms though, but it sounded impressive) but was a bit put off by the price, so wasnt sure if an internal PIR (pet-friendly so doesnt pick up cats etc) hidden in a cut out bird-box would do a similar...

Am after a CCTV camera/system to mount face level to see who is at the front of the house, most cameras I've seen are bullet type, the kind you see mounted up high. Can I extend an already extended semi-detached?

Thanks all (sorry for late reply everyone, loads on at work and home). I measured the existing extension and its 3.7m to the outside of new back wall, would that mean we could only add 2.3m maximum to the rear? Am assuming the 6m max you guys mention is from original outside wall of house, to...

Should my water heater switch be on constantly?

Thanks John, I'm sure the Mrs or me switched it on a few weeks ago as had 3 people wanting a shower one after another before a night out, as we thought it would warm the water that refilled the cylinder quicker? We had the oil boiler served by GB a couple of months ago and he said it was fine...
