I'm after a unit I can quickly install in a conservatory which has a remote alarm I can locate in my bedroom. The unit emits a beam/signal, which when broken, will trigger the remote alarm. I'd really appreciate any recommendations please.

Until the boiler people come, I have adjusted the valves on each radiator so the upstairs ones are just on and the one in the main room downstairs is on full. When they arrive I'll ask them to set the radiators up correctly. I imagine they'll just want to get away with the quickest method...

Just had a call with the boiler people. They suggested thermostat valves! They said that some of the valves need turning down and some up and this will sort out the issue. That's not really scientific is it? Having looked around this site, balancing the radiators needs a thermometer.

Bled the radiators as advised and no good, so must be a balancing issue. Pre change of boiler they were fine. This is why I hate getting work done!

I know Update I'm now trying to get Domestic and General to process a contribution towards a new boiler. I've had a plan with them for years and it includes a contribution if the boiler is no good. But you know these big companies!
