    Stuck isolating tap.

I want to take the old bath out to fit a new one. In the airing cupboard there are 2 red circular isolating taps/valves. The one I don't need to turn off works fine, I can open it and close it no problem. The one I need to turn off will only move a tiny amount each way. I have tried...

Fitting a UPVC door to a garage

I bought a second hand UPVC door and want to install it to my garage. There is a window in already and I was going to take that out and cut the rest of the bricks out to fit the door but because there is a lintel it would mean the door would be 1 brick below the DPC. Is that a bad idea...

Telephone extension with screw type terminals.

I am going to install a telephone extension box from the master. The master box has terminals that I can use the push down tool on. This is a daft question I know but I want to make sure I get it right. The extension box has screw down terminals, do I need to strip the orange and blue...

    Fitting a Lintel

Thanks for the reply. Yes I meant the length. Wickes sell steel reinforced concrete Lintels in 1200mm or 1500mm lengths so 1200mm will be long enough.

    Change bath shape

Thanks for the reply. I have looked underneath the bath, there are no isolating valves there. In the airing cupboard that is in the bathroom (the other end from the taps) there is a red circular isolating valve to shut off the cold water coming from the tank in the loft. There is also a...

    Change bath shape

Thanks for the reply. It looks like the bath was fitted and then tiled afterwards. I am planning on taking the old tiles off the walls, turn the stop cock off in the Kitchen and try to take the old bath out. I assume I will need to drain the hot water cylinder in the airing cupboard first...

    Change bath shape

I would like to have a new bath fitted, is there any reason I can't change the existing bath for a P shaped bath like the one in my album? It will fit length and width ways but would there be a problem with the pipework? How much would be a good price for a Plumber to fit the bath...

    Night storage heaters

Thank-you for answering my questions. Regarding question 2. I do not know if the heaters are controlled by a traditional clock or a radio teleswitch. I noticed the power lights on the sockets to the heaters used to go off at 7a.m now they go off at 8a.m. I am in Lincolnshire and E.on...

    Night storage heaters

I am trying to get used to my NSH, 2 questions someone maybe able to answer. If the heaters heat up at night and I do not use the boost button and there is still some heat within the brick/blocks, I assume the next night it will use less electricity to keep the bricks/blocks at a certain...

Water only trickles out of the shower.

I made a film showing the flow of water out of the tap, then out of the top of the tap without the hose on, then with the hose on. I tried to add it in an album but it is not working. I would like you to see the film to give me your opinion.

Water only trickles out of the shower.

Thanks for the reply, The shower head to the ceiling in 50cm, then there is the thickness of the floor and the tank is on a wood platform so I am estimating the total distance from shower head to the bottom of the tank to be 80 to 90 cm. It has a flexible how and when turning the water on...

    Condensation on inside of windows.

Thanks for the replies. It is a bungalow. I only do one wash and dry a week, the condensation is on the 3 rooms at the back every morning. From now on I will use the tumble dryer and not the clothes airer. Yes the lounge is a warmer room. The bathroom is fine, dry as a bone.

    Condensation on inside of windows.

Thanks for the link, interesting read. It only effects the 3 back rooms, bedroom, kitchen and utility room, none of which are used at night. The front bedroom, lounge and bathroom hardly get any condensation on the windows. Thankfully it does not effect any walls, just the windows. Any...

Water only trickles out of the shower.

I am in a bungalow and in the bathroom there is a bath with a shower attachment. The water comes out of all the taps including the bath with good pressure, in fact I felt the need to turn the stop cock down a bit. But when I push the knob down to divert the water from the bath taps to the...
