Can you buy spare Fobs for electrically operated Garage Door

Thanks both for the replies. No destructions unfortunately for anything at this property. I cannot even find a brand name on the fob or the receiver in the Garage. I will have a read on Google and see if I can find out anything.

Can you buy spare Fobs for electrically operated Garage Door

I am moving into a home this week and it has an electrically operated garage door. The old lady that lived there previously passed away and the estate agent only has 1 fob that operates the door. Am I able to buy a spare fob? Can I reset the old fob in case a family member has one and can...

Welsh stone building V traditional brick cavity wall.

I am out of the UK for a few weeks. On my return I will be looking for my future home and have saved a number of properties in the counties I mentioned that I would like to view. Some are of brick cavity wall construction. It is not clear what some are built of as they have been rendered...

Welsh stone building V traditional brick cavity wall.

Thanks for the reply. OK, so a rock and rubble wall is to be avoided even if it is 24 inches thick because of the reasons you gave. If the stones have been dressed it could be a cavity wall, is this just as good as a brick and block cavity wall?

Welsh stone building V traditional brick cavity wall.

I hope this is the most relevant section I am posting this question in. I am going to buy a property in South Wales, probably Glamorgan, Carmarthenshire, Brecon, Pembrokeshire and usually go for a brick and block cavity wall and concrete tile type property. There are a couple of properties...

    Noisy extractor Fan

Possibly, I am on the 4th floor on not far from the coast so maybe more exposed here. It is open plan so no walls dividing the kitchen, dining room and lounge. So when it's gusty there is no escaping the noise. It is a new build and would you believe there is no access to the roof excpet...

    Noisy extractor Fan

I have moved into a new home on the top floor. In the Kitchen there is an extractor fan, normally there is no noise when it is turned off but when the wind blows it makes a loud noise of the wind whistling down the metal tubing. Now I am sure it is silly and maybe dangerous to cover the...

Fitting carpet to a solid floor.

Thanks for the reply. I was just going to pull the old lino up but thought it might add a bit of sound insulation so did think of cutting away 3 inches all the way round the edge and leaving the rest down. I hope Grip Fil would hold the grip rod in place securely. Thanks for the tip...

Fitting carpet to a solid floor.

I am buying a flat with solid floors, they currently have lino fitted. I want carpets fitted but was wondering, should I leave the lino down for extra noise insulation and add the underlay and carpet? How is Grip rod fitted to a solid concrete floor?

    Galvanised water tank

Thanks again for the replies. Tipper, very good points. There are 4 flats in the building, 2 on each floor. I am buying on the upper floor. Yes the loft is included in the lease. I spoke to the Surveyor today and he said there is 1 tank in my side of the loft, the other side of the...

    Galvanised water tank

Thanks for the replies. So the problem is the tank could rust through and cause a flood. I think I will need a big tank and a header tank. I did google loft water tanks and saw those coffin type you mentioned. It is a 2 bed flat with no gas but has economy 7 heating and I live alone...

    Galvanised water tank

I am buying a 1968 built flat and had a survey done. Just read the report and 1 point noted was that there are Galvanised water tanks in the loft. The surveyor recommended that the tanks are changed for plastic ones. I can't get hold of the surveyer yet so thought I would ask here. Is it...

    Central heating

I am buying a 1960's flat that needs totally refurbishing and I was hoping someone with experience could tell me the most economical way to go, all electric or gas and electric? I will either take out the old rusty metal tank and cylinder and get a combi boiler installed, new radiators and...

    Gas central heating Service.

I am selling my home and the buyers solicitor asked when If I have had the boiler serviced. It was new in 2006, I moved here in 2007 and have not had it serviced. My neighbour thinks the buyer may ask me to get it serviced, so I have a couple of questions. I understand Gas boiler...

    New purpose built flat soundproofing.

Thanks for all the replies, it has definitely made me reconsider after hearing all the negatives of owning a new purpose built flat flat. Shame because I got an offer on my place today just 1% below the asking price, they have not sold their property though so nothing to get excited about.

    New purpose built flat soundproofing.

I was reading some of the literature I picked up and they are providing this scheme called "East start", on a flat that costs £114,950 the buyer has to put down 5% deposit, then £17,243 is using their easy start loan and the mortgage is £91,959 so I think that is what they mean by affordable...

    New purpose built flat soundproofing.

The ones I looked at had 4 or 5 floors and I definitely had in mind I wanted to be on the top floor because that way at least I would not hear anyone above me but the tops ones had all sold. What qualifies a person be able to buy the "affordable homes". I had thought it was help with the...
