i've just been reading through a post on the software section and it seems AVG is one of the best to download for antivirus and zone alarm for a firewall. I have downloaded both of these but not installed them yet....Is it wise to remove Mcafee and install these instead or is it best to stay...

does the orange light on the front with a picture of a chimmney and a fan on it light up when there is a demand. Then once the light is lit up it should go out and the boiler should light. If this light remains lit then it is more than likely the APS or Fan venturi.

this is what i meant. seems to be a common problem especially when the ones like i had been looking at, that have not been serviced for approx 8 years. seemed to be a realiable boiler upto now but to be expected really.

Well the manufactures of many combi boilers said approx 10 -12 years. Not sure on some of these new B rated condensing combis with aluminum HE on them. I think the likes of some better makes like Viessmann etc may last 15 years + unlike lots of other makes.

i shall try re installing it without the wireless protection buy i think it just auto installs it as a complete package. I don't want to have my computer un protected by having no AV software on it. Ill try and re install Mcafee without the wireless protection on and see what happens. thanks

yeah sounds like it could be NTC thermistor. also could be worth checking the fan assembley and aps. I have had a few that got clogged up with dirt and needed cleaning out causing the aps to not make/work. Also ive had a few where the silicone tubing from fan to aps had gone hard and brittle...

well usually that is caused by a build up of sludge and scale in the diverter valve. If the system is very clean it is quite rare for these valves to go down. Has he checked the expansion vessel. The system pressure shouldn't move that much maybe between 1 and 2 bar max depending on the size of...

sounds like it might be overheating. Was the diverter valve replaced because of sludge/scale. It could also be a faulty themistor.

i can't wait for the day when they ban bbu's. They either spill fumes , or not sealed properly or in desperate need need of a service as the dog /cat has been sleeping there for the past year and more or there is no vent for it. Nightmare some times. give me a combi to service anyday.
