Wall tiles, do I work from the window or center line of wall

There are guidelines, but at the end of the day I think a lot of it is down to personal preference. I found if I centered on the window then I would have to cut stupid sized peices once I reached the wall, and I if started on the wall then got stupid sized peices at at least one side of the...

    Pipe Benders

So I thought I would get myself a pipe bender save using the end-feed elbows that I've been doing until now. There seems to be a fairly large range in the costs of them though. As I will only be using it for occasional DIY, not day to day trade work will one of the cheaper ones be ok, or is...

    Connecting new Bath taps

Translation please :) Presuming a "Ballafix" is an ISO valve? As for the swivel?

    Connecting new Bath taps

Cheers, turns out the full-bore 22mm ios valves from Screwfix use copper olives, and I bought some slightly different pipe & fixings from Wickes, but looks like it should work :)

    Connecting new Bath taps

Ok, so I've taken on board the above, and compared what is 'out there' compared with the flexis, and I've come to the conclusion that the flexis really do look too restrictive. So what I've come up with is this; One of these connected to the tap...

    Connecting new Bath taps

I have 22mm pipe work to feed the hot & cold water to the bath, both of which are coming from their appropriate storage tanks. I was then going to use this: http://www.screwfix.com/prods/35826/Plumbing/Flexible-Hoses/Flexible-Tap-Connector-With-Valve-22mm-x-3-4# ...in order to get both an...

43mm Solvent Weld to 40mm Compression

 Unfortunately this is the section of solvent weld pipe that is poking up out the floor that the plumber put in, I'll just have to struggle it on, perhaps some kind of lubricant could be used? Would Boss White or something work?

43mm Solvent Weld to 40mm Compression

I'm guessing easy is a relative term? Stretched out under the bath trying to stretch the rubber washer over the pipe didn't seem 'easy' hence I didn't want to stretch it too far and find out I should have done it some other way.

43mm Solvent Weld to 40mm Compression

Ok, whats the correct way to make this transition? The plumber fitted a new boss and pipe rununder the floor, surfacing underneath the bath, all in grey solvent weld pipe, which according to the 45 degree elbow (has stamped on it) is 43mm pipe. The bath and fittings etc are all on 40mm...

CH Pump sucking in air from vent pipe?

Sorry about the confusion regarding the flow and return. I was referencing them relative to the pump, not to the boiler, which I am guessing is the convention then? Ok, so pictures speak a thousand words and all that... That's what I've got :) All I was wondering was whether with...

CH Pump sucking in air from vent pipe?

Hi Tony, sorry, I was not being reluctant, but perhaps just provided too much detail :) Yes, the boiler is in the kitchen, and the return from it comes up through and under the floors etc to the airing cupboard. In the cupboard the pipe travels vertically up to the loft when it hoops over...

CH Pump sucking in air from vent pipe?

Thanks for the responses, everything is as described in the posts above. The return is a vertical 22mm pipe, which then T's. The vent pipe continuing vertically to the the loft, the return taking the T to the horizontal. It then connects to another T section with the cold feed coming from teh...

CH Pump sucking in air from vent pipe?

I'm not sure if this is possible or not... I have a fully pumped, vented system. My old primary pump packed up recently and I replaced it with a new one, which seems to shift the water around a lot better, (it certainly did in a 'sink' test!). However is it possible that the new pump is...

    Bath Height

Hmm, wondering now if I might get away with it if I use one of the very shallow P traps; I might need to lift the bath marginally, but hopefully it will fit. I didn't want to use this trap to start with as i know it is too shallow for building regs, and being above the boiler feed/return...

Yeah, as you say, not sure there is much in the way of instructions, but I'll try and sort it out for you later this evening :)

    Bath Height

Thanks for all the followups :) I'll try to address them below... I do intent to put planks under the feet to spread the load, but yeah... I think this has been covered now  It does seem a bit rediculous, but the panel IS a standard height panel, so all I can think is that the bath...

    Bath Height

Do you ever get one of those days where it just seems like everything is against you? :? Guess I'm gonna have to be cutting and moving the boiler feeds after all :( There is just SO little room under there!
