    Sink slow to drain

I've just finished re-fitting my bathroom which included a new sink with vanity unit however the sink seems really slow to drain now. I've fitted a new anti-vac connector to the waste incase the old one is sticking but doesn't seemed to have made too much difference. I did move the...

    Sealing tiles and grout

Thanks for the info. I'm sure the tiles are already glazed and sealed (everything that's spilt on them so far seems to wipe straight off  ) A guy i work with swears by this aeresol sealer for the grout but it doesn't seem to be common thing by the sounds of it.

I've just finished tiling shower area with porcelain tiles and have been told about some aerosal sealer that stops the grout discolouring as well as sealing the tiles. Does anyone know if these products work and where to find them?

    Noisey Central heating

Thanks for the info. Sounds like it's normal and acceptable then. I was just worried as I'd not noticed it before I done any work on the system. I guess it makes sense that it's probably going to be worse this time of year when the temperatures are as low as they are anyway.

    Noisey Central heating

many thanks for the info stem, I understand that the copper pipes may expand and contract but unfortunatley I don't believe this is the case as they are plastic with the exception of the tails through the floor to the towel rail valves. The other odd thing is that the noise appears to be...

    Sealimg the corners of shower

Many thanks for the tips Richard, I've seen the gizmo's for this job but guessed it may be down to technique or practice as you never see the pro's using the tools. I've just ordered some everbuild sealant as well. I was keen to avoid the products found in large diy stores as I don't believe...

    Sealimg the corners of shower

I'm not sure if this is the right section of the forum but guessed it would be as it's to do with sealing the shower to make it watertight. I've just tiled the shower and wondered if anyone had any good tips on getting a nice finish with the silicone bead around the tray and on the walls...

Thanks, I did wonder if I may need to use smaller spacing on the walls. Can you recommend a suitable epoxy for the wet areas?

grout advice and additives/ Aquapanel prep

I was looking on the BAL website and was surprised about the lack of white as a colour option but have since discovered that it is only the microflex wide grout that is unavailable in white. Guessing i'll have to use the standard microflex which says suitable for upto 5mm. Luckily I have used...

grout advice and additives/ Aquapanel prep

Thanks again, I had a feeling that may be the best solution so started to look at prices, availability, etc only to discover that microflex isn't available in white which is my preferred colour choice for the wall tiles. Would superflex be ok for the walls inc shower area?

grout advice and additives/ Aquapanel prep

Thanks once again for your help Richard. Working on the basis that the old tiles seem to weigh roughly the same as the new ones and they seem to stay on the wall ok, I'm hoping that I should be ok. There's only about 1.5m2 left of the old wall that still has skim on it as I've replaced most...

grout advice and additives/ Aquapanel prep

I'm nearly ready to grout the flooring in my en-suite which has been laid onto WBP and had a look at the selection of BAL products available and was surprised by the amount of choices. Can anyone recommend a grout for flooring and a suitable additive to give it some flexibilty? The tiles are...

    Fitting shower tray to floor

Thanks for the tips. I think I'll go with the mortar mix and then use sealant to secure it in the corner walls. I think the floor should be ok as it's 37mm thick now that I've overboarded it.

    Fitting shower tray to floor

I'm just about to install a quadrant shower tray directly onto the floor(access to trap available in cupboard directly below) which will be bonded to the WBP using mortar but wondered if I needed to prime/seal the WBP ply before laying the mortar or will the mortar bond to the ply ok...

    Securing Aquapanel & Priming WBP

Thanks for the tips Richard, I've just been and got some Bond SBR to prime the underside and edges of the WBP as well as a couple of bags of Single part flex adhesive. As far as sealing the edges of the aquapanel and the corner joint before I do the final fitting of the shower tray, what's...

    Securing Aquapanel & Priming WBP

I'm just about to start screwing the wbp down and just thought I'd ask if there's any special screw requirements as I don't want the moisture from the adhesive to corrode the screws and cause the tiles to lift. Also how far apart do the screws need to be? the joists appear to be at 45cm centres.

I'm just in the process of fitting 3 x 90 degree 1/2"-15mm fittings to my new shower valve to connect the pipes up and just wanted some advice on whether to seal them using PTFE or boss white and hemp?
