Continually having to bleed a radiator.....

Thanks for the comprehensive reply, I'll check all of the above. Separate question, I've a potterton condensing boiler, around 5 years old. If the boiler is capable, could I convert to a pressurised system, that is the radiators, pipework and the coil for HW? And if so, what's involved. I...

Continually having to bleed a radiator.....

Ok so I did as advised above, and the overflow pipe sucked around 3" out the half filled jar? After about a minute, some water went back in but not very much. Thoughts?

Continually having to bleed a radiator.....

Some advice please: I have an open vented central heating system, using a condensing boiler located downstairs in a utility room. My property is a four bedroom detached house with 10 radiators. The system pump is in an upstairs airing cupboard, and the header tank is in the attic. The whole...

    Shower pump stopping/starting, poor pressure

ps: Just spoke with Showerforce, and they reckon an airlock in the pump causes these symptoms. They recommend: 1. Isolate the pump electrically 2. Remove the shower head, and ideally attach a hose to get more flow 3. run the hot water for a good few minutes, then run the cold water for a few...

    Shower pump stopping/starting, poor pressure

Coincidentally, I have the same make of pump, although its a ST Showerforce twin impeller one. I've been experiencing slow start ups, and on occasions, it sometimes takes 30 seconds to kick in. Its 5 years old, and assumed it may be the flow switch packing up, however if there is a filter, it...

Yes, the CW supply to the bath is from the tank, in fact all the bathroom taps CW supplies are from the tank, hence I'm keen to clean & disinfect the tank. Good point re using the CW supply to my bath, and avoid using the hot supply pipe

Draining and cleaning fresh water supply tank -

I've decided to clean out my fresh water supply tank in my attic, after reading horror stories about bacteria and legionella etc. Intend to drain it using a pump or syphon, then clean the inside with a sponge and brush etc, and continue with this until its spotless. I'd like some advice on...

Vented v Unvented, Pressurised CH System

Thank you. I understood, perhaps wrongly, that the CH side could also be pressurised (separately from the DHW), using a filling loop with and pressure gauge?

Vented v Unvented, Pressurised CH System

Some thoughts and advice please: Having recently had some CH boiler problems, (now fixed), various engineers have suggested that I should consider an unvented, pressurised system. I'd like to get some unbiased views on this please: I currently have a free standing condensing boiler, thats...

Potterton Promax FSB 30HE Urgent Help Please

Very helpful thanks. I think I may have uncovered the problem, I won't go into details for fear of offending the easily offended, but it's a non gas, system flow problem. But I'll let the engineer effect the repair tomorrow ;) Thank you for all the inputs, it has helped immensely in trying to...

Potterton Promax FSB 30HE Urgent Help Please

Thank you, mechanical and electrical chartered engineer here, so yes I can use a meter. And I agree about the boiler! It's goes instantly to lock out. It doesn't start the ignition sequence at all. Flow switch has been replaced as per above. I wouldn't bother with the guy above, he's what is...

Potterton Promax FSB 30HE Urgent Help Please

Good shout, thanks. Its been checked, however it has occurred to me that it may not be throwing out enough flow, and consequently, the flow switch may not be operating properly. I'm waiting on a call back from the engineers.

Potterton Promax FSB 30HE Urgent Help Please

Seemingly the limit for emergency call-outs is limited to £500 via my home insurance. But to be honest, I dont think thats going to be an issue as the boiler hasnt been fixed. I'm more interested if anyone has experience with these boilers, as it may help to diagnose whats going wrong. No...
