Glazed interior doors and 3 storey house

Jeez. Didn’t know this would be this difficult. With the trend seemingly being for every man and his dog fitting doors like this I thought it would a simple case of jumping on the bad wagon and swapping some doors out. Fitting sprinkler systems etc is not an option. The house is decorated top to...

Glazed interior doors and 3 storey house

Evening, looking for some advice please. We live in a modern 3 storey townhouse (built 2016). Downstairs we have a kitchen, dining room and living room that we want to change the internal doors from the current ‘new build’ white doors to black glazed internal doors here…...

    Offset wall unit

Evening, I have a kitchen wall unit that needs to be installed 240mm from the wall. What have you guys done in similar scenarios where the offset is quite large. Have you built a framework behind the unit fixed to the wall?? Thanks

Kitchen rip out - integrated oven question

Afternoon, I need to rip out our existing kitchen in preparation for the new kitchen and to allow some electrical work to go ahead. However, this means removing the integrated electric oven that we will still need to use. As a TEMPORARY measure, can I use the oven outside its housing? Clearly...

    What would you do here!?!

So, removed some wall cupboards a few months ago found a black mouldy area in the plasterboard behind. Realised that the silicone around the base of the shower above needed replacing as water was leaking through and causing this. Left it to dry out for a few weeks and then, this morning, cut...

What are these and how do I get rid of them!!! (Drain larvae?) (Ed.)

Evening all, Not a nice post but one that has me baffled. We have 6 toilets. 1 downstairs. 4 on middle floor and 1 on the top floor. It’s a 7 year old house. No water tank in loft etc. Always clean. No animals in house. The top floor toilet, one of the middle floor and the downstairs one all...

    Help re Cooker Hood

Actually, having just measured 75cm it’s not a great height!! Does mounting at a greater height improve its extraction ability?

    Help re Cooker Hood

Hi, do you know how high above the job you installed it? Looks higher than the regular recommended 750mm.

    Help re Cooker Hood

I think the installation height and extraction type is all good. I was wanting to seek advice as to whether the 90cm unit would still extract from the hob effectively. I think from jj4091’s comment it shouldn’t be a problem??

    Help re Cooker Hood

Hiya, it’s extracting (vents through wall). The 75cm is the recommended height above hob.

    Help re Cooker Hood

Thanks for your reply. If I’m using a 90cm unit, is there a preferred height above the job as that’s more flexible. I was going to work to 75cm - is that ok?

    Help re Cooker Hood

Hi All Ok, fitting our kitchen and building in a custom cooker hood. Our range cooker is 110cm wide so the gap between the wall cupboards for a hood is, obviously, 110cm too. Clearly, we cannot fit a 110cm wide extractor unit as there would be no ‘meat’ either side to frame the unit. So, we...
