    Ceiling Rose

If I was to install a maintenance free (MF) junction box in the ceiling void (as suggested earlier in this post) and glue the ceiling rose (polystyrene one) over it, the terminals won't be accessible.

    Ceiling Rose

Couldn't I just take the existing ceiling rose, cut a whole in the ceiling, push the ceiling rose in the hole. The new ceiling rose (polystyrene one) will cover the hole.

    Hole in pipe

I have removed a water softener which has left me with a hole in this plastic pipe. What's the best way to cover the hole? Many thanks.

    Ceiling Rose

Thanks for all your help chaps. I would prefer to just see a cable coming through the polystyrene rose. But, like you say, it makes it difficult to get at when the polystyrene rose is glued to the ceiling, I guess you would have to pull up the floor boards in the room above. Maybe I can...

At the minute there is just a bulb hanging from the cable. I was going to keep it the same, and get a shade for it.

    Ceiling Rose

I guess I could cut a circle out of the new ceiling rose (exactly the same size as the existing plastic ceiling fitting), therefore the extg fitting will then sit within the rose. The ceiling rose is about 20mm deep. Problem is, I will have trouble getting to the light fitting if I ever need...

    Ceiling Rose

I have bought a budget ceiling rose (polystyrene), hopefully the picture explains my problem (picture shows the back of the rose, the front is more decorative of course). The back of the ceiling rose is flat, but I have all the wires from the light fitting proud of the ceiling. I know this...

    Festool

All really valuable points gents, thank you. I would love a bench saw or vertical saw, but the new venture may take some time to get going, if it goes well - you never know. Using a local saw mill is a good idea (I was thinking about this) but I'm out in the sticks and the time it takes to...

    Festool

Of course, and I did start off wanting a bench, but a good bench is very expensive, needs more room and I can't take it out to site. Plus, it's unlikely too many shelves will be exactly the same size.

    Festool

The large mdf boards need to be cut up into smaller pieces to make shelves, so I will draw the lines onto the boards on pencil, and slice them up with the saw. Surely that's the best way?

A table saw would take up too much space in my garage.

    Festool

I have a new venture which will mean me cutting lots of 18mm mdf sheets in my garage. After reading lots of posts on here, I'm pretty much decided on doing the cutting with a festool plunge saw with guide rail, it's not cheap so before I spend the money can anyone confirm if this is the best...

    What bricks?

If I want to build a patio slightly raised, on a single course of bricks. I guess I need to use engineering bricks? Thank you.
