Thanks. I'll see if I can find out the torque rating. I reckon the suppliers might advise too.

    Installing steel beams advice

You might be right. I have done a few beams before though. And I'd like to think I can use a torque wrench.

    Installing steel beams advice

In that case I think pushing the steel up with acros first and laying the padstone next then if necessary pushing a slate into the bed under the padstone would work well. I've had 2 quotes from steel suppliers now. One mentions primer but not the bolts One is including bolts but no mention of...

    Installing steel beams advice

Just wondered if anyone might have some experience putting steels in. Here are a few things I'm not sure about Is there a good/correct size of gap to leave between the top of the pad stone and the bottom of the beam to allow for the steel to be fitted in but also not so big that any tile or...

How particular are planners re distances from boundary?

So me and the neighbour arent going to be sure where it actually is if the little I know about it is correct. I remember with my last place the solicitor doing the conveyance said that to be sure you have to hire a surveyor to do a proper search and measure? I viewed down the fence yesterday and...

How particular are planners re distances from boundary?

Yes they've repositioned it slightly. Maybe by accident, don't think they're that keen on the extension though

How particular are planners re distances from boundary?

I'm not sure what rule he meant. Maybe the one you mentioned about fire was it. But I got the impression he thought planning permission would be less likely without a metre gap. I've had a measure up. I think there's one post that's a problem the rest are ok. I'd like to use them as my guide.

How particular are planners re distances from boundary?

Hello, This is a side extension im talking about. The Architect said building it 1m from the side fence was the closest you can build. On the plan hes drawn it so the window cills are 1m, so I presume thats where its measured from? Since planning was granted next door have replaced part of the...

    Price of welding

Was wondering if anyone has an idea how much welding costs these days. Ive been quoted about £400 to have a 10mm steel plate welded approx 3.5 metres in length. seems a lot or am I wrong? Cheers

    Epdm. A simple question.

I was wondering if the printing disappears due to weather but that's probably a bit far fetched.

    Epdm. A simple question.

Hello, I've got to finish a porch roof on a relative's house as the fella doing it can't get there for a while and it's leaking. I think I'm up to speed with a lot of it but it's not my sort of thing. The main thing is does the rubber have a right and won't way up? The factory have written the...

Using a smaller blade on a circular saw

Thanks for your answers everyone. What I'm taking from you all is to get the right size or very close. I didn't know about reduction bushes. I like the idea of them perhaps with the tooolstation blades. Not sure if the they need to be the same make as the blade though? Only problem is I'm not...

Using a smaller blade on a circular saw

Hello. The current blade is 185x20 24 teeth. I can't get anything and need it for Monday. It's it ok to use for example a 160x20 blade. I assume the inner dimension being the same wil is the important one but is there a risk that I've overlooked? Cheers

    Pier supporting steel

Ok thanks. I was going to have the beam a little bit longer to go over that wall. (the wall is about 900mm) as extra security. I think i'll have to question the engineer. I dont really want to as ive got other points to raise regarding other areas of the build. I dont mind doing a pier in blocks...
