Anyone know when building works are considered to have "started"?

I agree. But isn't it likely that most of the conditions will concerned with work that comes later in the build?

Is that condition about the submitting of details for written approval a rarity?

Anyone know when building works are considered to have "started"?

Hello. I'm talking about the 3 year rule which I presume means 3 years from planning consent. I've heard different opinions for example. A course of bricks is enough. If there's a structure in the way, it's demolition is the start. As soon as you start digging the footings. Does anyone know...

    Anyone know about X box?

Hello, we were at a charity fair the other day and bought a used X box. The leads don't all seem to be correct so if anyone's got an idea that would cheer my 7 year old up no end. I'll attach a picture. I think the leads to connect to the TV are there on the left of the photo. The power lead...

A roller coaster day for the car and wallet

They got their excuses in claiming it must have got hot to cause the snap. I don't think so, I think I noticed as soon as the mpg's dropped. Probably the worse thing is they told me to collect it asap as they needed space. So I was driving it with only one bolt holding the brake in unknowingly.

A roller coaster day for the car and wallet

Yes. I knew I would pay a premium with a big company but not double. I'm not sure how many garages even small ones would be prepared to do the minimum amount of work though? This guy felt loosening the callipers and reusing the pads and disks was likely even before he'd seen them. I think most...

A roller coaster day for the car and wallet

I noticed a front brake had seized and when the garage I've used lately couldn't fit me in for a week I went to a big tyre centre. They called and said it was the caliper so both disks and pads and brake fluid needed doing. A bit annoying as the other side seized a year ago so the pads and disks...

inner leaf block work around external door.. return it?

Don't close the cavity with block work, that went out about 15 years ago. Use a cavity closer. Everyone sells them including screwfix, toolstation. The second question will depend on what floor surface you use. If your asking if mortar goes between the dpc and DPM. No. You may need to stick...

    Mortar/packing around padstone and steel

What I like about the first paragraph option is the padstone being put in last and out of the way until the end means there will be more room to manoeuvre the steel in place. Advantage of the second paragraph is it's load bearing quicker. But at some point I've misunderstood you because I...

    Mortar/packing around padstone and steel

Yes I think that way is best. I'm not sure about between the steel and the course of blocks about that.

    Mortar/packing around padstone and steel

Sorry everyone I didn't get an alert. Do you mean slide the padstone under a propped up beam? Good idea.

    Mortar/packing around padstone and steel

Fair enough. I don't do these often and the last time I did this sort of thing the BCO wanted a bed in between. The old boy I worked with said we should ignore him. Sounds like I won't need a mixer then. Anyone know where to buy steel shims? Also there's a section where the ends of some...

    Mortar/packing around padstone and steel

Hello, am I correct in thinking that having nothing between padstone and beam is ok for building control. And is steel shims and no mortar ok if needed. Also as the gap between the top of beam and concrete blocks will need to be pushed in with a dry 3 and 1 mix, is 10mm bed with a few shims in...

Anti roll bar linkage ball joint has slight play both rear (3,4,5) (a) (I)

Yes. I was thinking of asking what brand they use and maybe seeing if they might use another if I pay a bit more. Thanks for all the comments.
