    Iron gas pipe in screed...

I have taken down a wall between my kitchen and a new extension. In the picture below you can see the DPC for the inner and outer leaves of the cavity wall that was removed. Just under the screed you can see a black iron pipe with a rusty looking coupling. I believe this is the gas supply to...

    New under slab drainage run

Well Ive got the IC in and some temp pipework in place. The pipe at the top of the picture is fixed in angle and position as its the existing stack outlet which is in the existing slab. The pipe at the bottom comes straight out of the new IC. The two bends are 15 degrees each. Do i need to...

    New under slab drainage run

Point taken. I have read section 2.23. If I dont have enough cover I may need to reinforce the slab etc. I had a good read through and nothing seems to preclude the use of bends. For green ill need two 15 deg bends mid run, purple ill need a 30 deg at the output of the chamber and cyan ill...

    New under slab drainage run

Below is the floorplan of a small extension, its only the bit under the rooflight section that forms the extension and will have a slab poured over it. Green is the existing soil stack that feeds upstairs and vents through the roof. Purple is a new position Cyan is a new position Yellow is the...

    Party wall or not?

Just another question, if the outside of the wall forms the boundary for the neighbours property does that boundary line then extend down and step out on to my side for the foundations and bit of roof that over hangs?

    Party wall or not?

Understood. So its a trip to the solicitor then as the way forward?

    Party wall or not?

Actually I'm not sure exactly where the boundary line sits. My neighbours driveway and my garden are in front of the wall. The line between the drive and the garden is roughly at the mid point on the wall if that makes sense? It was the surveyor who took a quick look at the plans who said it...

    Party wall or not?

Thanks Jeds So would a simple agreement be a letter detailing the proposal and attach it to the section 6 party wall notice? The lintel will have about half a row of blocks on top of it and then the wall plate for the lean to roof. The drawings specify this as a Catnic CG70/100. Whats the...

    Party wall or not?

I think the chap i spoke to implied its type A to separate the kitchen but then there is a step in the boundary line and its the neighbours wall once it gets outside as that only serves a purpose to their house. Is it common for there to be steps in boundary lines?

    Party wall or not?

Thanks, the problem as I see it is that currently it doesn't separate our buildings as its their external wall?

    Party wall or not?

I have planning and building regs to infill the small area between my property (in yellow) and next door (in blue) as shown in the drawing below: I have spoken to my neighbours and they are happy with the plan. As we are on a hill I know that I need to issue a Section 6 Party Wall notice to...

using wifi plugs for heating control..regs question from a Gas man!.

If you were doing this as a commercial product which I know you aren't the standard you would need to comply to is probably EN60730. The relevant parts are probably EN60730-1; EN60730-2-7; EN60730-2-9. Available from Estonian Standards at a snip of the price of BSI...

Solar P. V deal endorsed by local council seems a bit cheap

Did you go for it? I'm still pondering my quote... I think its basically a bulk buying scheme: https://www.hants.gov.uk/landplanningandenvironment/environment/climatechange/whatarewedoing/projects/solarbuyingscheme I haven't spent the time to sit through their rather lengthy Q and A webinar...

    Tails in cavity

I cut a new doorway into the wall of the house near to the electric meter cabinet and consumer unit. This resulted in a room full of "glued" poly beads spilling out. Now looking into the cavity I can see the meter tails. Before replacing the insulation and while i have access is it worth...

    Cavity closure and insulation...

Well at the risk of ridicule i have fitted the stuff below into the cavity to replace the beads that fell out. Its mentions its designed for full cavity fill so seems to fit the bill and i installed it by compressing it between two bits of hard board and then sliding them out so went in quite...

    Cavity closure and insulation...

I've got a couple of questions around closing the cavity around a new door opening. The wall was originally filled with "glued" poly bead retrofitted insulation, when the door was cut in the majority of these escaped. The cavity is about 70mm wide and only about 230mm deep as the opening is...

Ah, ha, Stelmex looks exactly like it. Any tips on removing it or is it mechanical removal only?

    Removing old upvc trim adhesive

I've recently moved a window that was installed in 2010 to a new location. It looks like the old cloaking profile was stuck to the window with clear silicone which is very easy to peel off as expected. However the edge between the cloaking profile and window seems to have been sealed with a...
