    R&D tripping

Sounds like you may have found the defective device. That may well be a Live to earth short in your hob causing it. Was it spontaneous or did you turn the hob on? The any old v wylex statemwnt referred to the left hand breaker in your consumer unit not matching the others....

    R&D tripping

The RCD protects the circuits to the left of it he ones to the right are not RCD protected. Why would you expect your socket circuit B32 to be rated the same as your shower B40 one? To be clear is it the RCD that trips or one of MCBs?

    Identifying plastic radiator pipe type

Rats, I see that is probably an approval rating that I have found rather than a manufacturer :o(

    Identifying plastic radiator pipe type

Thanks gordongas, I managed to find some writing on one pipe: "KOMO CV KIWA" a quick google turns up some links but most of them aren't in English. Does this mean more to anyone else?

    Wet room shower former

My current bathroom has an 800 x 800mm shower enclosure with a plastic tray raised up on a 150mm plinth. I would like to make this take up the full space available at that end of the bathroom, this would take it up to be a 1350 x 800mm enclosure. There is a some boxing for the soil stack in...

    Identifying plastic radiator pipe type

The radiators in a house that I have just purchased are connected with a dark grey plastic pipe that comes out a pipe former outlet in the wall. How do I go about identifying the brand of fittings that I would need to buy? Would it purely be based off of the outer diameter of the pipe?

    Flush fit bathroom fan

Vortice came back to me and offered a replacement motor direct from them for around 40 quid. Hopefully an easy fix :o)

    Flush fit bathroom fan

Thanks chaps, after a bit of messing about I managed to find a rather well hidden rating plate with the model number on it... Its a "Vortice Ariett I T". Replacements seem to be around 85 quid, as recommended I'll shoot them a mail and see if there are some spares available.

    Flush fit bathroom fan

The bathroom fan is "Vortice" brand flush fit in to the ceiling and I beleive it is a centrifugal type. Everything is accessed from below and the cut out in the plasterboard is around 8.5" x 8.5" square. Once the face is off I have access to the motor, control electronics and input side of the...

    Click flow connector alternative

I have recently used a number of these connectors: http://www.toolstation.com/m/part.html?p=76571 They are made by Green Lighting and seem to be a copy of the click flow connectors but use push in rather than screw terminals for termination on the input side and the cable clamp is done by...

12v Power Issues & Multi Meter Readings...

Id say they look like slightly different bore sizes judging by your photo. I'd guess the one on the left is for a 2.5mm pin and the right a 2.1mm pin as you suspect.

    Switch fuse for shower...

Thanks for the info RF. Thinking about it is it kind of like the ability to have a 2.5mm unfused spur of off a 2.5mm 32A protected ring? Basically you are relying on the cable run being short, unlikely to be damaged and the current limiting device at the other end protecting the cable from being...

    Switch fuse for shower...

EFLI that is correct. It is exactly as the other circuits are, except that rather than using the bus bars within the confines of the CU it comes out of the enclosure on the 10mm2 T+E

    Switch fuse for shower...

Yeah I think they must have had an electric shower and then changed it to a pump at a later date. Its just an aqualisa pump on there now!

    Switch fuse for shower...

Thabks for the reply, so Im guessing solutions are: 1. Henley blocks to split meter tails and replace the switch fuse with a consumer unit with its own RCD protection. 2. Replace the existing consumer unit with a new one with more ways to bring the circuit from the switch fuse in to the same...

    Switch fuse for shower...

We have a power shower that is wired in to an FCU with 3A fuse in the loft. This is fed by a 10mm2 T+E cable back to a switch fuse in the garage with a 50A breaker in it. The switch fuse is fed by about 50cm of 10mm2 T+E directly in to the output side of main switch with integrated RCD on a...

Central bat v distributed bat emergency lighting opinions

Thanks chaps, thd luminaires would be both emergency and normal lighting in the same unit, we would just knock back the number of LEDs on in emergency conditions. Albrights seem to be the only people I could find that did the high current DC contactors i used on another project. I think the...
