I'm in the same boat. Got PP for my connie and Loft conversion. Built the connie myself so no BC there - but when it came to the loft I'm knackered. All the builders say what about your steel drwgs etc? I have now heard that Norwich Union offer a policy which cover the bank for house...

    size and length of steels?

I needed PP as the house had already been extended beyond the max permissable size. (We've added a conservatory too). Its a bungalow, and the roof space is approx 2.8m at the ridge, 6.5m wide and 11m front to back. Obviously the drwaings were to scale, but no structural specs were stated...

    size and length of steels?

When the plans were drawn and proposed, no-one asked anything about steel sizes, or in fact about the room sizes etc. The drawing I did were fairly basic (by hand and from a degree in auto eng about 10 years ago!). Are there any sites out there that can do the calcs?

    Searching for doors?

Have you checked with building regs? I'm sure that a conservatory door (betwen house and connie) is classed as an external door and should be to those reqs. Also, it may effect your household insurance if the doors you fit dont meet their specs either. sorry to be a kill joy.

cavity Trays - what are they??

I'm building a conservatory on the back of the house and some one mentioned cavity trays. Not wanting to sound thick I didn't question their talk. Now I'm stumped. Are Cavity Trays just the stitched in lead falshing between the pitch of the connie roof and the recieving wall? Anyone have nay...
