Can you drive a car to the MOT centre if it has failed the MOT and the certificate is up, for a re-test. Is this a grey area, is there a loop hole here somewhere.

I rememember it happening to me many many years ago in an old uno, but it was 4th because 5th had not be invented in the unos years ogo, and it was something to do with a slippage in the cable or wire in the clutch.

Going to fit a new gasket on Saturday, a mate has given me a tube of gasket sealant which I will use round the edges too. Then gunk the engine and do an oil change too. She won’t know herself. Cheers

I am a humble DIYer too. I tracked out the wall with a grinder. Put a 15mm plastic pipe in and covered it up with some plaster. Left the plastic pipe sticking out at the unit just enough to fit a pressfit elbow joint on (no awkward spanner work).
