GORENJE washing machines. Any good ??

Our Hotpoint WM 17 yrs old does not spin, and it looks like it can be either the brushes or the belt. It has 3-4 repairs over the years, so it looks like it is time to buy a new one. Dealers are offering Gorenje with a 5 yrs parts and labour guarantee, so are they any good ? I have searched...

    Mains stop cock.

Thanks for the latest replies, especially the last two. We do not have a water meter fitted. As I say the stop cock is the original one fitted in about 1939. With a bit of WD40 and the stop cock key, hopefully after a good soaking with oil I may be able to turn it. Opening it up a bit more...

    Mains stop cock.

Bosswhite, Yes looks like the tool we were loaned years back when we moved in, so that we could turn the water on for the house. The outside stop cock is within our grounds and just outside the kitchen window. There has never been a handle on the outside stopcock. The replacement mains pipes...

    chimney sweep help please

onecog, Never even thought of that, but it is so simple. Will try it again in future, just in case. With coal nowadays, having to sweep the chimney every 8-12 weeks. And they reckoned 1-2 sweeps per year was sufficient. No problem with the kitchen chimney - straight up, done in 10 minutes...

I have found a spring which fits and which seems to do the job, although it is not an exact match. The spring size is : C550H340. It was supplied by Springmasters Ltd., of Redditch. Cost of one spring is £1-04p.

Interior bi-fold door; wooden. replacement springs.

I have lost one of the pivot springs which fit at the top of the bi-fold door. The springs are 35mm long x 5mm diameter. Does anyone have any idea where I can get a replacement, and also some spares for the future ? Tried the local DIY shop in town, which has a range of virtually everything...
