    Underfloor venting

Hi there, My parents just got a quote for a complete replacement floor for their victorian terraced house. They have a bad damp problem, which after much work never seems to go away. Now this has been diagnosed as 'condensation' which I don't agree with and assume there is a leak somewhere...

    Musical towel radiators

Its a sealed system. Your probably right.. it does quieten down once warm.. I thought the valve was strange because air come out... then stopped, then no water :?: both of them took twenty minutes more or less until water appeared... (there was pressure)..

    Musical towel radiators

In a new build house. Towel radiators in both the main bathroom and en-suite. Always did have a lot of noise and knew that they needed bleeding, and finally got around to it. Strange type of valve. Crack it open, air comes out, but no water... did this a few times over the next few days, and...

    Bath panel

Hi guys, I am in need of some help. Fitted bath OK, and looking at the expensive panel that come with it that is in two parts. Both are a high gloss laminated type. Firstly I assume these should just be joined together (after getting the correct height) with self tappers? There are no...

Mixer tap and waste - not enough thread for trap...

I just said that the trap I had did not fit. All the pipework and trap was there, so I was not wishing to change it (I just swapped the basin). If there was a £2 plastic white trap that would have fit I probably would have change it out..... I am tight you see! No I did not try any others...

Mixer tap and waste - not enough thread for trap...

Yes, he did, but I found an alternative solution that cost nothing, rather thank spending another £10 on something I did not need (though I appreciate his help nether the less) As regards 'why', I was thinking out loud.... I didn't expect anyone to actually know why. ....the screwfix part...

Mixer tap and waste - not enough thread for trap...

Here is a photo: I can see what was mentioned before about pop up wastes, the thread comes up to it. But why isnt it manufactured so that it is 6mm longer (and therefore have enough for a couple of more turns of thread), then any trap would fit

Mixer tap and waste - not enough thread for trap...

It's interesting as the ideal standard mixers (and waste) are different to the waste shown above i.e. the plug bit screws into the waste bit, but this is a housing in itself, which has some cut thread at the bottom. It is not like the waste in the picture which is a constant thread all the way...

Mixer tap and waste - not enough thread for trap...

Just an update today.... fitted the spacer (it was split so I could get it over the washer and retainer, and all was well! Perfect fit! I happened to have a rotary waste to hand....and looked at a couple of pop ups in Screwfix and they do seem to have a lot of meat on the threads...

    Dual Flush Valve leaking

OK a little update today... 'cos I mangled the 70mm nut I went around a load of plumbers merchants...and none had any. I spoke to a guy at Plumb Store who agreed that it was a cheap unit (I wont say exactly what he said :D ) and commented on the fact they generally recommended Twyford stuff...

    Dual Flush Valve leaking

I had to do more than nip it up to get a seal.... hence why using the tried and tested - screwdriver and rubber mallet to get it off again.... Maybe another indicator of a budget valve? Should I be considering a small amount of silicon around the seal?

    Dual Flush Valve leaking

I need a decent spanner for the lock nut as I am mangling this one with the stillsons.... not seen one of these in screwfix.. is this a special plumber tool
