    Rendering plywood

Good morning all, I need to reduce a door opening in an external, single skin block wall by around 8" and try to match into the existing external render without a join that is too obvious and unsightly. The easiest way would seem to be 4' x 2" stud clad with 12 mm wbp plywood. I have some...

    Solid Oak Floor on concrete

Many thanks. Yes, I had misunderstood - old age etc. I have had a good look at as many previous posts as I can and am fairly sure I understand all the relevant points. I will, however, e-mail you direct just to be sure. Thank you again.

    Solid Oak Floor on concrete

Yes, quite correct. It seems that around 5 m is the safe maximum after which you need to install a loose tongue. I am obviously going to have to look at engineered boards since a change of direction in the floor would look terrible.

    Solid Oak Floor on concrete

Hello all, I intend to lay a new solid oak floor (John Boddy Timber) onto concrete. The concrete has been laid above 8" of well compacted hardcore, 2" polystyrene insulation slab and a top quality DPM. The concrete was laid 12 months ago and is bone dry. The concrete is flat and level...

Many thanks. I like the baby. Will have a look at your shop and will be in touch; not tomorrow though; I am not due back in France until October.

    Tiles or Vinyl

Many thanks for a great idea. Much appreciated. I'm not a tiler so how do I check quality? There are so many suppliers out there and so many 'special offers'. I know I must use trade addy (Bal etc.) grout etc. and that I can rely on the name for quality but what about the tiles...

    Tiles or Vinyl

Hello there, Many thanks for taking the time to reply. No, I can't plane the doors, that's the problem and why I came unstuck with dimensions. The French use very small section frames (rubbish really) top and sides but with no proper cill at the bottom, just a rebated steel strip against...

    Tiles or Vinyl

Hello all, I have a barn conversion in France with around 150 m² of flooring to install. The floor is 100 mm concrete over 200 mm well compacted limestone, 50 mm polystyrene slab and a top quality DPM. Laid more than a year ago, solid and as dry as a bone. The floor is perfectly level but...

    Multipanels

Many thanks John, Much appreciated and just what I thought. Yes, it is expensive but compared with Aquaboarding and then tiling, not too bad. Will find a showroom display and have a look. Thanks again.

    Multipanels

Hello all, Apologies if this is the wrong forum but I cannot find a more appropriate one. Multipanel: waterproof panels for bathrooms and kitchens. Quite expensive but sound excellent. I am considering using these for some new bathrooms and would be most grateful for any comments, views...

    Fixing plasterboard with bonded insulation

Hello all, Have a large open plan barn conversion in France nearing completion and thinking about wall and ceiling surfaces. The main room is 130 sq. m with a 6m high ridge. The walls are new, block cavity: bone dry. In order to 'break up' the huge walls, they have been 'framed' with 4" x...
