    Understanding boiler MINIMUM heat output

Gasguru is completely right... 80% of boilers installed nowadays are combi's (no doubt someone will say 79% or something silly!) Anyway, most of them serve small flats with 3 or 4 rads with an output requirement of nowhere near 9kW and they work fine. Just put in a small combi.... do not lose...

    Pipework from Outbuilding Plant Room

Can anyone offer some advice please, If the plant room to a large house is in an outbuilding away from the main property to be heated about 20m away can the heating F&R's and the cold, HW flow & HW retun be run underground with insulated pipework. If so has anyone got any recommendation on the...

35 kW heat output HE boiler on 22 mm heating circuits?

Hi Tony Is the proposed boiler not going to be a combi though? Although I see what you mean, even the system boiler will have the same size integral pump. When you say balancing valve, do you mean the valve before the cylinder to balance the heating and HW input?

Why must non TRV radiator be left on all the time?

This rad is acting as a reference radiator for the operation of the room stat... it is probably acting as the by-pass for the system too

    LPG or OIL

Small wood pellet / chip / log boiler?? Just top it up yourself and connect to existing system... no oil or lpg required... go green and save money plus puts more on house when you sell it in a few years. Cost will be much less than oil and lpg... although most on here would try and talk...

    Gas Meter Positions

I think the 'above ground entry' means to an internal meter, there are options to have a bolt-on or built in meter too.

    Gas Meter Positions

Can gas meters to new houses be positioned internally? I know National Grid have an option on theire 'new connection' form to choose an 'above ground entry' so I assune this means if you want the meter inside?? Cheers guys

    combi vs heat only boiler??

I agree, but maybe go to at least a 250 litre (150 is abit small for 3 baths?). Combi will be useless in this situation...

    Room Thermostat in Bathroom??

Thanks Dave, It is Uponor's system which runs off a low voltage and has a pulse sequence to the dial type stats. I was thinking about putting it outside the room near the doorway, but I kinda think it will defeat the object slightly as that area will be in the corridor / bedroom which already...

    Room Thermostat in Bathroom??

Yes, I understand how u/f heating works! I don't think its nonsense. What would you recommend then? The cost is neither here or there for the bathroom uf heating. The bathroom is quite large 14 sq. m, surely there should be some form of control in there. I don't want to go for the easy way as...

    Room Thermostat in Bathroom??

There is going to be underfloor heating throughout the property with individual thermostats in each zone. I assume therefore the heating for the other areas will be controlled via their respective stats not the stats in the bathrooms as they will only be controlling the circuit in that...

    Room Thermostat in Bathroom??

    Back Boiler and CH

Have you tried seeing how much a gas connection would be... I assume there is no gas nearby?? Why don't you look at a small wood chip boiler or even wood pellets and go the whole way... they are fully automatic and of course doesnt need oil.

    gas meter

This is quite a strange request by NG as I have seen their application forms and there is quite clearly an option to have an 'internal meter' fitted inside the property. I do know it is easier for them to install outside so they tend to push this option onto you. Also it is easier for them to...
