Triton push-fit bar mixer bracket dilemma

It's installed in the partition wall between the bathroom and the bedroom. No direct access, but easy enough to cut a hole in the wall should something spring a leak. It's behind the bedroom door, so would probably just pop an access panel in if it came to it. The installation criteria is a bit...

Triton push-fit bar mixer bracket dilemma

There's an exploded drawing at this link: https://www.tritonshowers.co.uk/amfile/file/download/file/779/product/1501/ Looking at it again, it does in-fact state that PEX can be used. I've fitted a fair few pushfit connectors in my time, but none have felt quite this tight against the pipe...

Triton push-fit bar mixer bracket dilemma

I've just finished installing my shower enclosure and have reached the stage where I'm ready to install the mixer valve. I received a set of push-fit mixer brackets with the shower I purchased and wrongly assumed that due to the term 'push-fit' being employed and a quick scan of the installation...

Air bricks above floor level feeding into cavity. Why?

Cheers @stem. That sounds the most likely. Possibly used as a pantry or something similar. Spoke to the joiner who's currently working on the living room and he agreed that it's almost certainly okay to seal up the bricks.

Air bricks above floor level feeding into cavity. Why?

I've recently purchased an '80s semi-detached bungalow and currently in the process of renovation. Originally, the property was heated via a warm air system and water heater, but this was replaced ~10 years ago with a Combi Boiler CH/HW system. In the kitchen there is a cupboard in which was...

Insulating suspended timber floor ‐ do i need to do the lot?

So, I'm looking at insulating my floors. 1980's Bungalow, suspended timber floor. Cost is a bit of an issue at the moment, and I'm wondering if there's any reason not to do the primary living areas first (Bedroom and Living room), then revisiting next year to install insulation under the floor...

Vinyl Click ‐ Under or around shower tray?

Thanks for the clarification! Re: chipboard subfloor. I will be going over the 22mm chipboard with a layer of 9mm ply, then sealing the gaps/seams with acoustic sealant before installing the tray. That should keep things relatively dry underneath should the worst happen!

Vinyl Click ‐ Under or around shower tray?

So, I've (hopefully) just about finished the plumbing in my bathroom renovation and it's almost time to reinstall the floor. I understand that when tiling, best practice is to tile the entire area and then locate the shower tray on top of the tiles, but what is the best solution for vinyl click...

Workbench frame supported by block on flat on interior garage/retaining wall. DPM or Breathable?

I have recently purchased a new property and I am looking at converting the detached garage into a workshop. The garage sits at the bottom of a reasonably steep slope leading up to the house and the rear garage wall doubles up as a retaining wall for the garden behind it. In order to reinforce...

Replacing Polyorc cold water piping. Cost?

I am indeed! I'm considering doing the piping myself as it's a reasonably straightforward job (Imperial Alkathene to 22mm pipe, tee off to combi and CW kitchen tap feed Run through to bathroom, tee off again for shower/basin feeds). I'm reasonably confident in my ability, however I'm by no means...

Replacing Polyorc cold water piping. Cost?

Evening all. I've recently purchased a late '70s semi Bungalow. Midway through tearing out the bathroom, I discovered to my abject horror that I've also purchased a period-correct Polyorc cold water feed. It's 100% Polyorc. It says so on the pipe. Not only that, but the stopvalve under the...

Advice about construction of party wall in late '70s Scottish semi

I'm currently looking at buying this circa 1979 semi. It's being sold through an executor, so I've got no practical way to check how well acoustically isolated the party wall is (without asking the neighbours, who aren't necessarily going to give an accurate answer, depending on how quiet the...

    Another Potterton thread...

Fantastic, thank you! So just to clarify, I still need to create a manual live link from A to D? I assume the simplest way bypassing the old room thermostat is just a case of removing the unit, closing the circuit into a constant 'on' position with a terminal block and blanking it off until the...

    Another Potterton thread...

I'm planning on updating our central heating system in the next few weeks and need some advice in regards to rewiring for the new central heating controller. We currently have an ancient Potterton EP2000 unit controlling the central heating and I'm looking to replace it with a Honeywell T6R-HW...
