    Cat 5 query please help!!

In an ideal world you would connect the ends of all the cat5 cables to a patch panel in a cabinet. Then you would connect these via patch cables to a switch. But just connecting the ends to a switch is fine. What sort of switch depends on what plans there are to expand, current budget and...

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering about the minimum load, but assumed it was ok with it not being mentioned in the instruction manual. It has been running fine for over a year BUT I have only recently swapped to LEDs from CFLs which were 4 11w bulbs. So you could be correct. I havn't...

Extension above garage is cold. More insulation?

The Superquilt looks easier to put up and the cost is around the same as Celotex or Kingspan boards. What I can't work out is which provides the best insulation! As I can't find any data where the two are compared or use the same values. It doesn't look like a dodgy product though. The...

Extension above garage is cold. More insulation?

I have seen some 100mm screws that I might get away with. Or... I could add some 50mm joists to the ceiling fill in between with insulation board and the plasterboard over that. Quite a bit more work with that method. Thanks for your help.

Extension above garage is cold. More insulation?

Hi, A previous owner extended our house and put an extra bedroom over the garage (around 15 years ago). The problem I have is that this bedroom is the coldest room in the house. When we moved in we put a new central heating system in including radiators so the rad should be the right...

Fitting Honeywell cmt927 thermostat to Baxi DuoTec 40HE

As I mentioned in the first post, we have a Towerstat plug-in wireless receiver that fits in the mechanical timer slot of the boiler. When I take this out and wire in the Honeywell what do I do with the wires that did go into the old Towerstat plug-in receiver? Also there will be no cover...

Fitting Honeywell cmt927 thermostat to Baxi DuoTec 40HE

Thanks for your reply mikely but the original Towerstat receiver is not wired into the boiler. Its the plug-in one that fits in the mechanical clock slot (which is the main reason I bought the towerstat as no wiring was required). The boiler instructions shows the following schematics:

    Soffit Lighting

Thanks for the replies. The soffit I need to cut into is timber so I'm OK, no asbestos. It looks as though the PIR I have chosen or even the 140 degree version will be ok. But what about the downlighters? Do I need IP65/shower rated ones? Are these new GU10 LED and energy saver bulbs...
