Adding a radiator to a system

I have a Vaillant Combi Boiler, and wish to add one new radiator. I intend to turn off the boiler, turn off the cold water supply, drain the system, cut the pipes to an existing radiator, and extend to the new one. I have soldered before on cold and hot water pipes to a sink and bath, and...

    Which way should doors open?

A really stupid question, but I cannot find anything about this. I know that in an ideal world, internal doors should open into the room in which you are going, but is there any regulation stating that they MUST open INWARDS for (e.g. bathroom or bedroom)?

    Rules for kitchen/bedroom/bathroom location

I have just referenced Part G of the Building Regs, and it says that : A space containing a closet or urinal should be separated by a door from a space used for the preparation of food. So it seems like one door is sufficient? The current set up is Kitchen >> open door to {small 1.7m}...

Regulations on Electrics for Flat Conversion

I wonder whether anyone knows the rules regarding electrics for a house split into 2 flats (1 upstairs and 1 downstairs flat). It would be normal for the lights of a ground floor house to be serviced through cable running above the ceiling and below the floorboards of the first floor house...

    Quotation - Rebuild chimney stack.

Someone has just said that water is penetrating down a chimney stack on a house we intend to buy, and he recommends that it be rebuilt, and a lead tray inserted. This sounds an expensive job to me. The property is a two storey Victorian Terrace. The chimney is of average height and...
