Please identify the pipe coming up from my hallway flooring. Image included.

Difficult to tell from those pics can you clean it up a bit and take some more pics.. include a ruler to give some idea of scale.

    Vent Axia Extractor Fan

I think you slide the outer cover to the right to clear the clips that are behind it, then pull it towards you to remove it. Of course, if it's been mounted upside down then you'd have to slide the outer cover to the left to clear the clips!

What is the best item to replace a leaking TRV?

If there's a header tank then you can buy a kit of 2 rubber bungs which you use to create a vacuum in the system and you don't have to drain down the system. Only works with a header tank, tho'

    Leaking kitchen tap

I think that spout has a screw-on collar at the base where it meets the body of the tap. Try gripping it and unscrewing the collar (anti clockwise) then you will/might be able to lift out the spout by wiggling it and lifting at the same time, but be prepared to struggle a bit!

    Basin Taps - recommendations?

Don't forget that good old British brand... Pegler! Trouble will be finding a seller, as the market is saturated with Chinese junk with British-sounding names.

    Old Bosch washing machine

Hi, does the rcd trip immediately you switch it on or after around 10-20 minutes?.... I ask 'cos the water heating element doesn't get switched on straight away, so if the rcd blows immediately it probably isn't the element. However, with that model, the drum supports (known as a spider) have...

Old TV remote control needs some attention

It's just that if you can patch up your old remote with a little effort and baking foil, and glue, you save not only your money but something from ending up in landfill.

OK, after posting the above I found some related threads and am reading them...seems like a lot more to it than first meets the eye!

Wiring to a shed for a work light advice please

Hello! My neighbour has a wooden shed next up his house and has asked me to advise him for the right way to provide power to it for a fluorescent worklight (not powerpoints) looking for some pointers from you experts, please. Can't find anything on the wiki, the one thing there is a dead end.

Old TV remote control needs some attention

Hi! I've had to rejuvenate an old remote, and after trying the usual tips, cleaning with ipa, rubbing the conductive pads with a pencil, and reading that conductive paint soon loses its effectiveness, (so saved some money there...) I found the cheapest and so far OK way (from YouTube) is to glue...

    Rubber Washer Cistern OverFlow Pipe

I know this is an old thread, but I'm in the same boat, so to speak, and find that the blanking plugs as mentioned above aren't the right size - they're too small. I know, I've just bought one. They seem to be for the inlet hole, which is a much smaller diameter. It's something to do with...

Bosch Logixx 7 washing machine tripping house RCD

Well, I wish dazzystar had finished this interesting thread! Usually it's the heater because either the drum bearings have worn so much that the inner drum flops about and starts to grind into the heater casing until it exposes the element, but, particularly on the Bosch, inexplicably the spider...

    Bosch Classixx w/m alert

Anyone else had this? Thought it was the drum bearings gone as the drum had a lot of play in it, so bought a bearing kit + drum seal BEFORE opening up the machine and splitting the tub. Any guesses from you experts out there? it wasn't the bearings, they were perfect for a 10 year old machine...

Bosch Classixx 1200 Express trips mains mid cycle

It's most likely the heating element, because it doesn't get switched on until the wash cycle has been going for 10 minutes anyway.

    Bosch Classixx 1200 drain

You should have a drain hose next to the filter - a thin black pipe with a bung in it that you can drain down the drum before opening the filter. Puc shows what it should look like, and you can see the paddles from the pump

Hi, thanks for replying! Re the sds drill to drive in a spike... do you mean just using chisel action setting alone?

    Earth rod advice

Hi, thanks for that advice, I think I'll get me an EZ150 then. I've just installed the earth spike (eventually) and have only a limited way of knowing if it's any good...in the olden days it was OK to measure the resistance between earth and neutral with a dvm, or connect a light bulb between...

    Earth rod virgin needs help

Hello All, I drove in my very 1st 4ft 3/8" earth spike today...feeling VERY macho wielding the lump hammer, but....using my dvm was only getting 3.5MegOhm , which, after watering the spike hole, improved to 1.5MegOhm . By comparison, the earth to neutral reading I get using the earth bonding on...
