    Pressure reducing valve

Afer doing more searching and reading I'm probably getting more confused. Does fitting a pressure reduicing valve have any affect on the actual flow rate of my system?

    Pressure reducing valve

After a bit of reasearch I've worked out that 32pints in a min equates to approx 18litres, my combi can deliver 16litres per min flow rate for the h/w so am I to presume that my mains water flowrate is near to optimum for my boiler. Am I right in thinking that if I fit a pressure reducing valve...

    Pressure reducing valve

Can someone tell me what the inlet pressure is if I get 16 pints in 30secs from the kitchen tap or is that a daft question. I have a vaillant 837 ecotec plus combi boiler and my concern is that if a reduce the pressure of the inlet supply to accommodate the shower valves it will adversley affect...

    Pressure reducing valve

Hi, I am having a new thermostatic shower installed and reading the installation instructions it states that if I get more than 1.2 gallons in 30seconds from my cold water tap I shouldm have a pressure reducing valve fitted immediatley after my main stopcock. On testing my cold tap I was...

    Continental shower fittings

Hudson Reed are a UK company so I don't think there will be any problem with spares/warranty etc. They only have a distribution network in the UK so sell through retailers. They do not have any retailers in the rest of the world so in Europe and US so sell direct on the internet but with a 60%...

    Continental shower fittings

Hi, I am thinking about buying a Hudson Reed shower. They sell to the rest of Europe direct from the the internet and the prices are 60% cheaper than buying in the UK (they do not sell direct in the UK). I was just wondering if anyone knew if there maybe problems with buying a shower designed...

Beam & Block concrete floor insulation

Hi, I have a house built sometime between 1989 and 1991. The floor is concrete but with air bricks so I'm presuming its block and beam. Last winter was my first in the house and the floors were very cold. Did the regulations at the time specify that the flooring void had to be insulated in...

    water connection to toilet cistern

Hi, I am going to replace my toilet and I am going to have the water inlet moved. Is this a special connection or just a 15mm thread nut and olive. Would it be OK to use one of the speedfit hoses with a thread on one end and pushfit to 15mm copper on the other.

50MM CONCRETE SUB BASE FOR NEW PATIO

Hi, I am in the process of installing a new patio and got some advice form a neighbour who is a retired builder. He advised me to use a 50mm concrete sub base mixed to a ratio of 7 to 1. I said I was going to use a 75mm MOT sub-base and then tamp it down. Has anyone else used a 7-1 concrete...

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A RF ROOM STAT

Thanks gas4you, the VRT360f seems the right stat for the things I want it to do. The cable connection from the boiler to the RF Rx'er is via 2 core ebus cable. Is this a special low voltage cable and if so where can I obtain a couple of meters worth.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A RF ROOM STAT

Thanks for the reply gas4you, I've ordered the VRT360f anyway to give me the control over the aquacomfort feature on the Vaillant 837 ecotec boiler. Am I correct in thinking that if I didn't have the ability to turn the water off via the progammable thermostat the boiler would fire up...

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A RF ROOM STAT

Having done a bit more research its the VRT340f that plugs into the front of the boiler not the VRT360f. Unfortunatley the VRT340f is not suitable for use with the Ecotec plus range of boilers.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A RF ROOM STAT

gas4u, Can you confirm that the Rx'er unit for the VRF360f actually plugs into the front of the boiler. Reading the installation instructions from the vaillant website it says that the RX'er is situated away from the boiler and is connected by 2 core cable to the eBus connections. cheers

Managed to speak to him and he was very apologetic and is going to try and register the installation tonight on their website. Seems to have slipped his mind.

PAPERWORK FOR A NEW GAS FIRE

When I do a search for an installer on the Corgi site for an installer for gas fires it comes up with his name so I presume that means he is qualified for gas fire installations. I'll give him a call tomorrow!!

PAPERWORK FOR A NEW GAS FIRE

http://www.trustcorgi.com/consumer/requestacertificate.htmx On the Corgi site it states that not all Corgi registered fitters are able to self certify if they haven't signed up. You then get a different type of certificate and its up to the home owner to go the building control if required.

PAPERWORK FOR A NEW GAS FIRE

I checked he was Corgi registered and he still has a valid Corgi registration number so it seems strange. I didn't realise until recently that I was supposed to receive any form of certificate for a replacement gas fire. Will it be possible to get a certificate back dated? Also will I need a...

PAPERWORK FOR A NEW GAS FIRE

Hi, I had a replacement real flame gas fire fitted last November. The installer was Corgi registered but I never received any paperwork or certificates. Is this correct and should I chase up the installer to get any required certificates. I've read that I mean need a certificate of compliance.

Boiler anti-scale devices, are they worth it?

I'm having a new combination boiler fitted. Is it worth having any types of anti scale devices to the pipework because we live in a hardwater area. Are any products better than others.
