    Sanity check this quote

Hi guys, Looking to have some work done in the garden. Basically a large decking area with a 6 x 3 pergola with a flat roof. Does this sound reasonable? Any thoughts? Finding people to do this job is proving difficult. I'm in the South East btw. The pergola is 6 x 3 and the decking in total...

    Pergola and decking

Hi, We would like a pergola on some decking in the garden, about 5m by 3m and ideally with a solid roof. What type of timbers would be best for this? We want something attractive and durable but can't break the bank on something for garden. Any tips or suggestions would be most welcome as we...

Rear Extension on stepped back wall

For most people it isn't easy to simply "find a proper designer". They all talk the talk but seems not many have a clue.

    Estimating extension cost for remortgage

The rate per square m would be dependent on where you live as well. £1500 in the Southeast where I am would be cheap

Wood Burner Party Wall getting hot

Hi, Next door had a wood burner installed a few months ago. We have noticed tonight (possible it has always been like this) that our side of the party wall where the wood burner is gets quite hot. I plan to have a word but haven't got a clue if this is normal or it has been badly installed...

Notice of Rejection Building Plans - Insulation / Boundary

We did similar and had to use another product on the outside that had a certain fire resistance. I can't remember the product we used but the one in the BC plans was Supalux. This was only because we built to the boundary so were within 1m of it. Surely the person doing your BC plans should...

    Hotpoint frost free freezer

Hi, Have an integrated frost free freezer. At the top it was making an awful noise. Had hotpoint out and he said the fan that blows the cold air is hitting ice and it needs defrosting. Since when do frost free freezers need defrosting? Anyone else had this problem? Thanks

Download the pdfs from your council website and edit those using something like GIMP. If of course it was a recent ish extension and the pdfs exist.

    Planning Drawings for the extension

You may get pelters from the forum regulars for this post Seriously though, £600 sounds on the cheap side unless what you propose is a porch. What type of extension is it?

    Carpet to carpet door bar

Recently had the carpet on the landing done. When the fitter was doing it he was going to a normal gripper but like you say it would have protruded into the bedrooms so didnt want that. Rub the current ones down and spray paint to give metal effect? Bad idea?

    Carpet to carpet door bar

Hi guys, Looking to replace these ugly looking wood door bars with some chrome. What the best thing to use? Obviously normally the bedroom carpet would have been further across and a normal gripper bar could have been used. Hallway carpet is new. Thanks

I would post your plans on here as if they don't contain much detail the builder will pick them apart and charge you for every extra
