    Stuck cylinder

All back together minus the bottom claw and more or less working. Think I must have mucked up the starting position of the cylinder as the door locks when you do the handle up but won't go again to double lock. It won't double lock as the claw at the top isnt coming out fully when you lift the...

    Stuck cylinder

Thanks guys. Since we have lived here I've noticed you could only take the key out when the door was locked. After moving the barrel about a small piece of metal popped out and which then allowed the key to turn and the barrell came out. I have the gear box out. What do I need to take note of...

    Stuck cylinder

Hi guys, uPVC french oor has been really stiff to lock so trying to find out what the gear box is to source a replacement. Also when opening the door the latch doesn't seem to retract that far compared to how far you can push it in manually. I've got everything off but the cylinder won't...

    Extension on top of garage

Council policy where I am is you have to build 1m from the boundary at 1st floor level. My neighbour applied and was approved to go to the boundary. I then followed and have noticed a few others as well which were all approved. Councils have their policies but it doesn't mean they stick to them.

    Garage tap

Hi guys, I need to replace the housing on my garage tap as it looks split. Is this a DIY job or do I need a plumber? Please see photos. I have the new part but am unsure on removing the silver bit from the copper pipe. Can the housing just be unscrewed from the copper pipe and silver nut...

Sodium light cutting out and do you like Sodium lights?

Hi, Just had an extension and have a new sodium floodlight in the garden. Have noticed when we run the new shower which is 10kw it makes the light cut out. Obviously these things don't just flick back on light a normal bulb as they cool down before coming back on so the shower may be causing a...

Major leak in kitchen - Builders/Roofers please help

My Dad has the same issue with his house. The front wall bricks are saturated and eventually water drips down the cavity above the porch and through. He painted on a masonry sealant that essentially water proofs the brick to stop rain from penetrating. Worked a treat. Prob have to wait til...

    Oak handrail

Hi guys, Happy new year. Have got a new oak handrail. It hasn't been vanished yet as waiting to get the landing etc decorated first. I've noticed a small nick out of the wood. Attached photos. Its only about 1mm deep. What the best way to deal with it? Sand it or fill it? Or leave it...
