    Wainscoating proportions

Hi all I'm doing some wainscoat panelling in a room. MDF-backing panel, and then attaching moulding rectangles, so it looks like the attached picture. Question: how should I determine the proportions of the moulding rectangles across two different length walls? Wall A is 3.4m Wall B is 2.2m...

Where can I buy spare racking/shelves like this?

Hi all Anyone know where I can buy spare shelves for this kind of metal racking/shelving unit, please? It has 'Handy England' stamped on each part. Just need one more shelf and some brackets, as opposed to buying a whole new unit Thanks all

Best type of floor/concrete grinder for garage?

Hi all. Need to take a few mm's from the bumpy surface concrete of my 10sqm (3.5m x 3m) garage. Will a hand-held grinder tackle this in decent time? Would a larger stand up/pull grinder be overkill!? Cheers

Levelling garage floor with very little drop...

Yeah I could tile it happily. I assume it's best to still level it with an SLC before though?

Levelling garage floor with very little drop...

I've currently got only 2cm between the level of the internal house floor and the level of the garage concrete (you step from one to the other via a doorway). I figure a 5-10mm SLC and then 10mm thin wood panels applied to the garage concrete should equal (and hopefully not exceed) the 20mm...

Levelling garage floor with very little drop...

Thanks for your reply It will be cold, and if I was doing a full conversion I'd obviously pull the existing floor up and check for/lay a DPM and full insulation. But it's rather to make it look better and be a bit more functional. I think I can get away with it, but just wanted to check.

Levelling garage floor with very little drop...

Hi folks. Planning to turn my concrete garage floor (pictures A, B, C & D) into a flatter surface, so it can be more of a functional space. This isn't a conversion. Garage is three internal walls, and cr*ppy wooden external double doors. Moisture levels are below 14% throughout, and generally...

How to remove seemingly stuck washing machine motor?

Hi all. Have removed bolts and electrics from the motor, but I'm having no luck 'sliding' or forcing it off it's housing attachments. Any advice, or is it simply brute force? Machine is a Bosch Thanks

    Creating a decorative fireplace

Hi all I want to install a decorative cast iron fireplace with a marble surround in the space occupied by the currently-sealed old fireplace (pictured). I know the proportions I want and can source said features. What do I have to actually do?! I assume it's a case of creating enough of a...

    Making large shelves secure

Interesting. I'd be interested to see pictures of construction and finished product. I've settled on: An MDF carcass, which will be attached to multiple battens. Timber lipping / fascia added to the front of each shelf. Columns will be timber attached to the front of the carcass, with...
