Alarm sounds when mains switched off.

Thanks for the reply my friend;...do you reckon this one would be suitable? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Yuasa-NP2-1-12-Valve-regulated-warranty/dp/B002TR2ESI/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1504116400&sr=1-2&keywords=burglar+alarm+battery

Alarm sounds when mains switched off.

My son has recently moved house and the property is protected by an ‘SL Compact’ burglar alarm system. I’m not sure how old it is but it appears to function properly when the alarm exit code is set, and it de-arms itself normally when the entry code is keyed in. However, when the mains supply...

Very little water flow from any ‘hot’ tap in the house

The word ‘fixed’ was introduced by the mods; as soon as I saw it I thought it would cause confusion. o_O I left a footnote on my thread starter to say that I’d misspelt a word in the thread title; the mods fixed my ‘title’ mistake and overwrote my footnote with the word ‘Fixed’....; done...

Very little water flow from any ‘hot’ tap in the house

OP here; many thanks for the replies.. I’ve just found out that the loft water tank also supplies the ‘cold feed’ to the bathroom power-shower; .....so maybe the loft tank did run dry and an air-lock has been introduced ??

Very little water flow from any ‘hot’ tap in the house

Hi, the gate valve between the loft tank and the hot water cylinder hadn't been touched prior to the problem but it appears to be functioning properly anyway. If it is an air-lock,.... then where-abouts in the pipework run would such an air-lock likely be?

Very little water flow from any ‘hot’ tap in the house

Very little water flow from any ‘hot’ tap in the house i.e. bath tap, bathroom sink tap and kitchen tap; just a slight flow that stops after a minute or so. Been working fine but virtually stopped flowing this morning. The house has a conventional vented CH system with a cold water storage tank...

Slow drip in water tank ballcock valve

Good recommendation. I get fed up with noisy float valves; Recently tried this one; but just a bit too noisy, creaky, groany and takes too long to turn off completely,....but that’s just how they are. Also this one; ditto. So I tried this one;.....very quiet, quick fill and shuts off...

    BRITISH GAS JOB REFUSAL!!!

A very interesting thread.... When it comes to plumbing I’m just a keen amateur so please bear in mind that many of my points below are generic in nature and therefore may not be particulary relevant to your industry;....however, you may find some of them useful. Just for the record, I’ve...

    Hallway Radiator....bleeding ‘el !!

OP here, Had a suggestion that it may be the TRV that is causing the problem. Could be intermittently sucking air in, but still remaining watertight. Does that sound feasible guys ???

    Hallway Radiator....bleeding ‘el !!

I assume (though I may be wrong) that the system has the correct level of inhibitor etc as it has been professionally maintained in the past, before my daughter bought the property. I did think it may a build up of ‘corrosion’ gases, but if it was down to a lack of inhibitor in the system...

    Hallway Radiator....bleeding ‘el !!

Hi guys, My daughter recently moved house and the she has a problem with the hall-way radiator; it need bleeding every 10 days or so to ensure it gets hot. As soon as it’s bled it heats-up rapidly, so there is no apparent problem with the flow of hot-water. The gas boiler (not a...

    Room-stat v. TRVs

It certainly seems to be the way forward. Complete and independent control of all areas. The ability to wirelessly switch off and control the heating to individual areas has got to be a real moneysaver. Like you, I work from home and when my heating goes on I really can’t be arsed running...

    Room-stat v. TRVs

John, I think we are talking at cross-purposes here my friend; I don’t think that anyone, including me, is saying that there will be any conflict between the room-stat and the radiator in which the room-stat is fitted,.........because, there is a consensus that NO TRV should be fitted to...

    Room-stat v. TRVs

Hi Dan, thanks for your input but my question was, specifically ‘what is wrong with the article’?............if the info in article is rubbish, then I’m keen to learn why? Cheers. P.S. To answer your question re Worcester Bosch;........ ...I can only guess........is it because regulations...

    Room-stat v. TRVs

That’s very interesting my friend. Just trying to get my head round the concept. Are they saying that each TRV will having the functionality of a room-stat and be able to shut the boiler/interlocks off completely? Do ALL the wireless TRVs need to be OFF before the boiler/ interlock...

    Room-stat v. TRVs

What is wrong with the ‘article’?.. ............I’d be very interested in your comments. It’s from ‘Heating & Plumbing Monthly’ and was written by Martyn Bridges, Director of Marketing and Technical Support at Worcester, Bosch Group. He certainly sounds authoritative,....... but you...

    Room-stat v. TRVs

Hi Dan, I wasn’t aware of Lightwave RF TRVs before I saw your post and although you say they “look shyte” I’d be interested to know why you dismiss them out of hand,....... or do you have experience of these units? I havn’t seen any online reviews of the units........ either good or bad...

    Room-stat v. TRVs

Thanks for that info kb; when I said the TRVs quite happily control the temp in each room they most certainly do........but only when the system is in ON and in full swing so to speak. I’ve read your comment a few times and I think I’ve understood what you mean ???? (that’s down to me....not...

    Room-stat v. TRVs

Fascinating Dan, thanks so much. I’m learning lots today! Why would the pump be dead-heading? ...I assume (??) dead-heading means the pump is unable to move any water through it because all circulation routes are shut-off ;...... but would the by-pass valve prevent that happening and is the...

    Room-stat v. TRVs

Thanks so much for that tip about interlocks, very enlightening, my friend. However, my boiler switches off itself and uses no gas when there is no call for heat from any of the radiators i.e. if all the TRVs have closed and the water in the ‘hot water’ tank is also up to temperature...
