Combis and flow-rate: Vaillant 838 Plus Ecotec

Great! Thanks - as I understand, two showers might or might not work with a combi only (depending on how much water they use and time of year), but collective wisdom for now seems if you want to guarantee it working, fit an unvented cylinder.

Combis and flow-rate: Vaillant 838 Plus Ecotec

Thanks. Looks like adding an unvented cyclinder is my solution. I know my current flow rate/pressure is poor and neighbours report significant boosts after upgrading. (That said, IF it's theoretically possible that my current combi would serve my needs without an unvented cylinder, then...

Combis and flow-rate: Vaillant 838 Plus Ecotec

OK. Leaving aside intergas vs other makes for the moment, do I actually need a new boiler - or should I just have an unvented cylinder added in? NB: THe current boiler is working fine. Also, I guess upgrading the mains from the street would be advisable before anything else, no?

Combis and flow-rate: Vaillant 838 Plus Ecotec

Thanks for replying. So why do some combi boilers say they are capable of running two showers concurrently?

Combis and flow-rate: Vaillant 838 Plus Ecotec

We currently have a Worcester Bosch 37CDi boiler in a three bed house. It's been fine for almost 10 years - very few repairs needed. However, you can't turn on a tap on while someone's showering etc. We are about to start building work which involves adding an additional shower room. We've also...

Garden office flooring - replace laminate with ...

I've had a decent laminate (wood effect) flooring in my garden office for about 8 years. It's pretty worn now, however, and I want to replace it. I'm not sure what to replace it with: Another laminate might be fine - but really don't want to have to do it again.. Thinking engineered wood better...

Non OEM door gaskets/seals on washing machines

REplacing our seal (again). Wondering what people's opinions are on non-oem seals for washing machines? It's a common Bosch model but the original seal is almost twice that of a non-oem. I've used a non oem before but somehow we've managed to nick it again. I'm wondering if there are any...

Service Head replacement - who pays?

That was the first thing the guy said just now. So, huge embarrassment on my part but the whine turned out to be coming from a efergy electricity meter monitoring thing in the same cupboard. I did check that as soon as I heard it but it was one of those whines that was...

Service Head replacement - who pays?

My ancient cast iron service head started whining this morning. Note the black tar leaking at the bottom. UK Power Networks called and sending an engineer. But they've already stated this is a 'grey area' for responsibility for replacement... Anybody offer any experience in this area? Who...

Bosch / Siemens washing machine - spares help!

At the back of the front panel of my Bosch washing machine (WAS32460GB), there are three wires, pos, neg, earth, I suspect. Where one of the wires connects to the main fascia panel, there is a small blue plastic attachment. It looks exactly like this...

Sandstone paving steps within gravel - what's going wrong?

Hi, I've got several sandstone slabs standing within gravel - on mortar* bases. They were done as part of work on our garden two years back. The problem is that they're coming (cleanly) loose. Here's an example: The stones receive above average traffic in comparison with most gardens...

Indian sandstone - stain removal? Sealant?

We've got some grease stains - probably through kids spilling food - on our patio. It's Indian sandstone - sourced ethically but no idea of relative quality. Official colour is Raj Green - but it's more greyish, blueish, pinkish stuff when dry. Any ideas on removing them? I've seen...
