Do attractive air vent covers exist?!

Might have to agree with your wife there! Would be interested to see the plaster one in action. FWIW : I ended up not using a vent at all and just finishing the internal air brick (it's in the bathroom). Used to get a bit chilly in winter as it was just a direct out to exterior. But...

Thanks! I gave up in the end but you've found some good ones. Would be great to see an update to what you chose.

Bathroom mirror - polished edge - sealant?

About to put up a large bathroom mirror (replacing another cracked one) and wondering if some sealant like this would help with the black spotting corrosion that occurs over time. The mirror is supported rather than framed/glued. Any experiences? I can't find a dow corning equivalent in...

Hi there, Nope, never found anything! A gap in the market - though a small one, I suspect! Post back if you find anything...

Worcester Bosch 37CDi losing pressure - but why?

Hi peter, Thanks a lot for replying. Yes, a few people I've spoken to have mentioned this. I've got something like 14 rads - and they're quite large (column things). What perplexes me, however, is why this has only just started happening? If this is the way forward, however, any idea of...

Worcester Bosch 37CDi losing pressure - but why?

Well, 2nd callout resulted in nothing more. PRV replaced - more out of desperation than anything else. Basically: 1) Pressure is (when cold) about 1 bar 2) When heating is on, pressure can creep as high as 2.5 bar. 3) Generally the pressure sits at 1 bar but occasionally it drops below...

Laying floorboards - to remove or not remove existing.

Sorry to drag this up again but these posts never provide any reference for anyone if the solution/resolution is not posted. And for that, I apologise for this lateness. We went over the top in the end. Saved a lot of time and have never regretted it.

Worcester Bosch 37CDi losing pressure - but why?

Our combi boiler keeps losing pressure. But not in a standard way. I happened to check gauge recently on one day and it was fine. Then the next day I noticed it had lost all pressure. Suspected a leak. Checked ceilings etc, but nothing. Can't check under ground floor rads easily...

Large bathroom mirror mysteriously cracked - heat pad?

:D Well that's what I thought. But the person near the room at the time is an adult and has no reason not to tell the truth!

Large bathroom mirror mysteriously cracked - heat pad?

We've got a large bathroom mirror 2.5m wide by 0.8m high, 6mm thick. It's secured to the wall using these: http://www.vola.com/Gb/Products/Accessories/T20 And on part of the back there is a heat pad: http://www.screwfix.com/p/heated-bathroom-mirror-panel-410-x-580mm/77859 It's been...

    Light bulb reliability

Well 3000K from a good manufacturer (megaman), is advertised as 'Warm White' but it ain't! And yes, you're right - only cheaper in the long run. I'm figuring on about £15 per LED - decent make, e.g. Aurora.

    Light bulb reliability

Thanks John. That's what I was aiming for - about the bottom .25% :) In fact, it's clear from 10 minutes googling that CFLs are not impressing people much - however their lifespan is distributed. I'm gonna replace mine with some quality LEDs. They're not much more expensive. And they'll...

    Gu 10 bulb extender

I'd also like to know if one of these exists. Mine all require 75mm length bulbs and so anything else will sit recessed (if it fits at all).

    Light bulb reliability

Well, I've had 2 (of 4) fail in a hallway too in less than 2 years. 11W 141432 (now a powerlens model, I think). They've been switched on and off an average of twice a day - so 1000 times (let's say generously). Total hours of use: max 1000. Perhaps they're normally distrubuted but...

    Stair carpet quote

Well, let#s say 17sqm is an upper estimate by 1msq (it can't be much more). Does this quote make it OK + or - £50 (extra sqm). I'm really just checking that I'm not getting totally ripped off here. If it's in the right area (with no bullnose finishing etc), then fine.
