Bathroom mirror - polished edge - sealant?

About to put up a large bathroom mirror (replacing another cracked one) and wondering if some sealant like this would help with the black spotting corrosion that occurs over time. The mirror is supported rather than framed/glued.

Any experiences? I can't find a dow corning equivalent in transparent colour.

Looks like a bodge to me, proper bathroom mirrors have a special coating on the back to prolong life in damp conditions.

Why not speak to a supplier about getting one, as a matter of interest I wanted an odd sized round mirror for a bathroom, I went into a glazing shop that cut it, drilled it and put the proper coating on it was only a few quid more than a standard one from Homebase.
