    Issues with installing rimless toilets?

That looks like my downstairs toilet - RAK Resort? There's no hollow channel around the rim where the water flows - there's just a slight overhang that the water is propelled around before falling into the bowl. Works well. Upstairs I have an Ideal Standard Connect Air which uses their...

    Hope for the Sub ?

The more you read about this story, the more incredible it gets They fired their operations manager a few years back for refusing to authorise manned tests of this thing due to concerns over it being up to the task...

Poor lifestyle contributed to U.K. covid

The period of 2020-2022 would have been the perfect time to carpet bomb the population with public health messaging along the lines of "if you want to collapse your risk of serious effects from this virus, you need to have some personal agency, sort your diet out, stop eating crap, get off the...

Wet room tray tile cut pattern advice

I fitted the conceptually similar Grohe version - 'smartcontrol' and 'rapido smartbox' in my bathroom and tbh I was quite disappointed for the money it cost - the only bit made of metal on the whole thing is the faceplate, everything else is chromed plastic. Even the valves inside are plastic...

    What a massive tool

Groups 1 (Corbynistas/momentum) and 3 ('wokes') are largely the same people at this point.

    Cutting pipe against a wall

I've used a mains grinder many times. The pipe would have to be live/pouring out water to cause a problem. Any drips just get thrown off by the blade.

    What a massive tool

I don't actually think that's true. Indications are that Starmer is starting to follow the Tony Blair playbook or even taking direct guidance from him in dialling back or marginalising the more fringe left wing elements of the Labour party.

    What a massive tool

It's not the object that has a gender in e.g. French/German etc., it's the word itself. Slightly difficult concept to get your head around at first.

    Asbestos soil pipe

Just watched a skill builder video with a sent in question and photo and thought "I'm sure I've seen that before somewhere"

    Floor/ceiling joist reinforcement

Hi all, below is photo of a section of my kitchen ceiling - as you can see, all the joists (7x2) have been notched deeply (over 2") right at centre span (10ft) for the central heating pipes. Not content with this, the electician has come along and drilled 1" holes beneath the notches...

    Worst Tiling Ever??

Even the green MR plasterboard is not advisable in a wet area and especially without tanking. I always thought the 9.5mm board was just for ceilings?

    Worst Tiling Ever??

I feel for your daughter. The whole thing is stressful and top of that even if you end up with a nice job once someone competent has redone it, it just really takes the shine off the experience of getting something nice and new that you've spent hard earned cash on and probably been looking...

    Karndean on Egger Protect boards

Right, so from searching I can see that the Karndean on chipboard question has been done to death and the recurring theme is - 'it's not recommended as the glue can react with or not bond properly to the chipboard and fail. Professionals will always insist on overboarding with ply but if you're...

Collecting Boiler Condensate in a Bucket!

I did this when I moved the boiler to my utility room in the early stages of refurb - to eventually be plumbed into the sink/washing machine/tumble dryer/softener waste pipework which didn't exist yet. In the end it sat like that for a couple of months, just emptied it every few days. There's...

Wall hung toilet pan, how secure and safe are they?

Pretty sure they're standardised - the position of the flush pipe, soil pipe and mounting studs in relation to each other and the ground are universal.

Soil stack change - is this OK?

Bosh! Got this done at the weekend. Ideally I would have liked to take Hugh Jaleak's suggestion and sorted out the vertical stack as well but for various reasons, it's just not possible for me to do it at this time. So this will have to do. A million times better than what was there before.
